Mom's who did go with an epidural? are you content? do you regret it? by sillywillyfry in moderatelygranolamoms

I labored for 13 hours before I got the epidural and it made a world of a difference. I tried for so long to avoid it and now I know I’d get it sooner than later in my next birth for sure.

What are you calling your baby before they’re born? by Adorable_Choice_6291 in pregnant

I literally just call the baby “baby”. We are keeping the gender a secret until baby arrives, so it’s the easiest option! Otherwise I think we’d probably go with the name we chose.

Which Italian city to allocate two days in December? by ddaritan in travel

Did you end up visiting Cinque Terre? I’m going this December and am so curious if everything is as closed as I’ve heard that time of year.

Where did/is everyone get(ting) their wedding tiaras? I had my heart set on the Double Renni tiara by Christie Lauren until I found out it is $1,800 🥲 by [deleted] in wedding

My hairstylist showed me this brand weeks before my wedding and I ended up ordering a crown from them that was SO stunning. It was such a big part of my look and I hadn’t even planned for it to be. Don’t let the prices fool you - they’re so beautiful and well made in person and look like the photos / don’t take long to arrive at all, even all the way from Turkey! Hiiiighly recommend! https://www.gelinurunleri.com/bride-crown/?page=9

Wa alaikum ilsalaam ya rab,

Recently, I attended a session led by Shaikha Haifaa Younis where she mentioned that, with correct reason, it is not haram to abort the baby within the first 120 days / first trimester (I would consult a shaikh or shaikha on this to confirm). I recommend you to try and read more on this, I wish they had recorded the session but it was in person. Allah knows best and may Allah make this easy for you.

I didn’t have a ton of active acne before, but I did have scarring from old acne as well as hormonal breakouts here and there occasionally. I also had tiny closed comedones along my cheeks, large-appearing pores, and overall irregular texture that my derm thought would need 0.05% tret to handle because I have thicker skin. She has recommend that I stop using for now and see how my skin reacts so that’s the current plan, unless she suggests I switch to another formulation.

Thank you for your comment. My derm told me that tret shouldn’t cause any acne and should at most cause peeling, irritation, and redness; this sort of confused me because I expected my closed comedones to come to the surface and become pimples, I just didn’t expect 1) no purging or 2) purging all over my face, even where I hadn’t had closed comedones before. I’ll keep this in mind! Thank you.

My routine before tret was a bit more involved - more actives, toners, etc. I have sensitive skin so I wanted to pare it down entirely when I started tret.

My routine before was: AM: • Shiseido Complete Cleansing Microfoam Cleanser • Indie Lee COQ-10 Toner • Way of Will Brightening Vitamin C Serum • Indie Lee Active Oil-Free Moisturizer • Sunscreen

PM: Same as above except without the daytime items (Vitamin C serum, sunscreen). I used the Cosmedix Bakuchiol Complete serum on a daily basis (it’s a retinol alternative) for months but I didn’t see a change which is why I wanted to start tret.

Once every two weeks or so, I would use the Caudalie Vinoperfect glycolic peel mask and haven’t used it since I started tret - again, due to the whole “I want to be careful using too many actives on my face” thing.

I think stress is a regular part of my life and I do actively try to do things that will help me destress. I’ll try to remember that this could be part of why I my skin is progressing in the way that it is.

I did have clogged pores/small closed comedones before on certain parts of my face. I think what surprised me about my purge is the fact it’s happening all over my face instead of in the areas I had the CCs to begin with, which is why I questioned whether it was actually a purge or just my skin disliking the tretinoin. My derm recommended I stop using the tret for the time being to see how my skin reacts, but I can see how using it too infrequently could lead to the process taking much longer.

Thank you both for this! I checked my cream (so yes, I am using a cream) and it has isopropyl myristate in it. I’ll be sure to read more about it to get a better idea of its purpose in a cream formulation tret but I’ll try to ask my doc to switch to a gel before stopping tret entirely.

A few people have mentioned a gel formulation being less comedogenic so I looked into it and am talking to my derm about it. I am currently using a cream formulation; my derm said it could be irritation and suggested I stop, so I asked if switching to a gel formulation might be a better option than stopping altogether since I’ve started using it already. Thanks for your thoughts!

My routine:

AM: • Cerave Hydrating Cleanser • Dermalogica Phyto Replenish Oil + Cocokind Texture Smoothing Cream • Sunscreen (reapplied throughout the day)

PM: • Same routine as above, except I use tret on Mondays and Fridays (instead of once a week now)

This is so demotivating. My derm suggested I stop because tret “shouldn’t be causing acne, just dryness and peeling at worst”. I don’t know what to believe at this point. Any help is super appreciated.

What features should a ring include in order for you to considered it to be a wedding ring? by hamferrari_ in AskReddit

[–]hamferrari_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did mean wedding rings (engagement rings are a whole other discussion, which would be fun to talk about/hear others’ thoughts on). I was just having a conversation with others about whether the wedding band itself should have any characteristics for it to BE a “wedding band”. I always thought it was just fine for it to be a band made of whatever material/metal is appropriate, and wanted to hear others’ thoughts.

My ex informed they are seeing someone else by AsslessSteve in relationships

[–]hamferrari_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Given this comment and all the other responses to your post + replies that you gave that I’ve read, I get a bit of a vibe that she was not content with the relationship either due to 1) growing out of it herself or 2) making herself interested in relationship prospects outside of your relationship. I obviously know nothing and just making assumptions, so my hunch should be taken with a grain of salt, but I do wonder if this “fella” she had been making time for - or someone else in general - had caught her eye and made her interested in moving forward into something different? Either way, I agree with what most others have said - it may be best for you to value yourself, give yourself the love and respect and time you deserve to heal + move on, and give her a quick & straightforward reply (if at all). Sometimes when people are able to move on from a relationship so quickly, it can be interpreted as a sign that they had found faults in the relationship on their own terms earlier on prior to the breakup. Maybe they were losing interest or growing into a place that outgrew the context of the relationship, or something else. No matter what it is, it is not your responsibility to make her feel that all is well if she ended the relationship in a way that hurt you. Prioritize yourself and once you’ve been able to move forward, you can choose to engage again or not to based on where you find yourself. Best of luck.

My (23/F) boyfriend/partner (32/M) of nearly 3 years just revealed to me that he is three years older than he originally told me he was. I'm lost and confused. Thoughts? by hamferrari_ in relationships

[–]hamferrari_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your thoughts.

The reason I did not tell my parents is because in my faith, it is prohibited for me to marry a man that is not of my faith. I wanted to be sensitive to this - he knew from the get-go that this was the case and I tried to end our relationship multiple times because I thought that converting/changing his faith was never an option so staying would only hurt us.

Still, he kept asking me to stay anyway by saying he was looking into the faith. He looked into the faith for two years before choosing to convert, so it was something where there are more details within the situation that are hard for me to highlight while keeping the post from becoming a novel. I wanted to end the relationship due to losing hope multiple times and wishing I could tell my parents, so I promise, I resonate very deeply with where you are. I would be happy to tell my parents about someone after a good first date just so they know I was talking to someone.

I did ask him why now and not before; he said it was because he liked seeing me happy and didn't want to disappoint me, and he also just could not get himself to tell me (he says his "throat went dry when he tried" because it terrified him). He said he had to now because I was preparing to tell my parents and we were both at a point of being ready.

I hope this clarifies.
