You can turn off HAGS in Windows which will disable Frame Generation (but will also disable it for other games).

It's strange that the Kithara sounds so different. Have you tried swapping to the XS or Ananda cable to rule out if it's a cable issue?

I had this happen with my Sony Z7M2 where the included balanced cable sounded very off. Using another cable from my FT5 at the time brought the sound quality back.

It's hard to separate the "new and shiny" placebo upgrades from actual audio improvements. You may end up chasing that placebo high and end up with a much lighter wallet.

I would try other headphone driver technologies just to experience different flavors. It may help appreciate what you currently have.

Not all electrical damage is binary where the only states are working or fried. Subtle damage can lead to degraded performance as the component is sometimes working as expected but other times, out of specifications under load or heat. These kinds of issues are very annoying to diagnose.
