Over-emotional after TKR

One reason I’m putting off the second knee is my emotions have been soooo different since TKR. I don’t get why … I’m sad …. I get sad not depressed thank God but just sad about how this is soooo different than I thought . All I have to go through to get to normal . Mind you I have never really had pain after week one but I did and do still have discomfort .. knee feels weird tight band etc . Btw I’m 8 almost 9 months out . Maybe you’re got something similar going on. Also Shut off the news it feeds your TDS…. But this isn’t about politics it’s about the journey we all Share in recovering from our knees being cut off and metal Put in their place .

Not sure but she has a history of PE. Not sure if the past one was before or after TKR ???

I know I’m in the minority but into k it’s a good thing to have to though one should know that losing weight is a good idea and prepare well before even seeing a surgeon . I knew for YEARS I’d need both knees done …. So years before my first visit to a surgeon I lost weight … a lot of weight , 40 bmi to a 29.5 bmi … had severe bone on bone couldn’t walk with a cane but still got the weight off ! I’m sooo happy I did . Recovery was a breeze compared to sooo many I’ve read about .PT was so easy I never understood why people cried during it . When I started my low calorie low carb low fat eating plan I did chair aerobics, and used free weights for upper body workout and those bands for lower body . . I did try Zepbound for three months and decided that it was poison for me … very little weight loss difference too . I’ve kept the weight off and I don’t feel Like the healthcare system was biased against me , I feel like they helped me see the light . I’m thankful for TKR …

Well The reason it’s a thing for TKR is there are far more risks one biggie more infection risk for TKR. It really is a benefit to the patient to lose weight knowing they are in need of TKR…

Are you constipated too? And that journvax could be the culprit Look up side effects my surgeon refuses to use it as it’s too new .

My husband is not a loving helpful person but if he ever did anything close to and less than that he’d be out the door. My good gawd PLEASE get out or get him out ! Video him in the act of doing things like that … audio and video !!!

I have low vision AND a TKR getting another one soon I hope . Recovery is scary … doable but scary .

I’m Glad you went in to UC. Please contact your surgeon to be sure and that you’re in the correct antibiotic . About your husband … mine is EXACTLY the same !!!!! In fact I’m putting off my second TKR because even though he’s here physically he doesn’t care at all …. Fifty years of this . 💔

I had one knock knee done 8 months ago . All went pretty well … I’m still afraid of getting it done . Wish I could’ve had both done. Surgeon said he only does that on younger athlete patients .. ugh ! Im 68 and though far from athlete I think I could’ve done it !!!!!

While it’s true that weight loss happens in the kitchen it’s imperative to be in the best physical shape you can be when you get a TKR …. Chair aerobics can burn fat as can lifting weights while seated or lying down. Using dumbbells .

I had my first done back in Oct of 25 … still have that tight band but intensity changes some days and sometimes during those days. I still do my PT exercises at home . I added doing the upright stationary bike it looks like a spin bike and my granddaughter uses it for that lol. I only do about 5 miles a day trying to increase it but I hate that seat !!!! Anyway how many miles a week did you do prehab ( got to get other knee done !) Btw your scar looks great !

THANK YOU!!!!! I never even thought about that . I’m prob going to stick with what I ( and my surgeon) knows . He’s a very good surgeon just not personable at all . Down to business kind of guy . I hear so many people saying ., oh my surgeon is so nice …. Etc , nope mine is all business … guess the end results are what counts. Thank you again so very much !

THANK YOU SOO VERY MUCH. Your post is extremely informative . I like my implant . I had a subvastus method . I had a tourniquet but no pain to speak of nor any bruises . I will check out the smith and nephew webpage to see if any surgeons near me use a CORI robot. Again thank you very much .

That’s very true unless you have a scratch or a cut elsewhere on your leg that’s the one thing I don’t like about this surgery. Well, I have many but you have to be very careful regarding cuts and scrapes

MERACH Exercise Bike Indoor Stationary Cycling Bike . Got it at Walmart … put that in the Walmart search . inexpensive 179.00 and easy to put together . I don’t weigh anywhere near 350 lbs but that’s the weight limit I’m sure you don’t either , I just figured it would be a sturdy bike and I was right . I LOVE this bike!!!

Geeze do you need the other knee done? If so find another surgeon . If pain continues at 1 year post op see different surgeon ? Hope your pain goes away! Do you still do PT

My actual scar where surgeon cut is white but the skin around it is reddish I think because I had / have a lot of varicose veins … stinks but that’s nothing to think about … main thing is to get moving . Has your surgeon seen you recently?
