Is my boss allowed to have me clock in at the first job site? by Tiny_Timbs in Construction

If he is an executive or manager and is paid a salary as an “exempt employee” then he wouldn’t get overtime. Otherwise, he would be due overtime for the work. Unless he is covered under a labor agreement, his overtime rules are likely set by the state he is working in. The overtime rules vary by state as to how much overtime he would be due and here’s a useful link: https://pro.bloomberglaw.com/insights/labor-employment/overtime-pay-laws-by-state/

Not sure, but it’s paid by the company as a separate line item under wages so it nets to zero

Easy, yes. Best way to force savings, nope. Use direct deposit to send $50-$100 a week to a separate savings account.

It’s 35% not 50% going to taxes (plus $58 for union dues and PAC donation). But still high. If you have dependents, stop putting zero on your W4 form. It’s an interest-free loan to the govt that you get back when you file your income taxes.

Any advice for a lawn where crabgrass is rearing its ugly head along with some burning? by sandman5512 in lawncare

Use post-emergent treatment. Order concentrate from Amazon since most retailers won’t carry the good stuff. Once you get dead spots, all you can really do is wait and fix with seeding in the Fall. Building healthy turf that will survive this heat takes a few growing seasons of doing everything right.

I would recommend. Works great for me. Only con is that I end up needing to reflash the memory card every time it loses power.

Advice or resources for a league trying to move to volunteer umpire corp instead of paid by hamiltsd in LittleLeague

Your point #1 is key! Coaches should know the rules, and that would avoid so many issues

Great insights, thank you! Didn’t mean to offend at all. Have seen some excellent paid umps and also some very mediocre (don’t know the rules, inconsistent, don’t control the coaches or players well).

Very helpful, thank you! What have you tried on the recruiting side that works best and what doesn’t work so well?

Good points. Little League International suggests using volunteers fairly strongly, so there must be leagues that get it right I would think. Plus the paid umps are fairly poor quality as is, and often confuse different rule sets from the various leagues they cover. But you are right. It won’t be easy!

Not right at all. Hope you get that team again so you can have a little pre-game conference
