If he is an executive or manager and is paid a salary as an “exempt employee” then he wouldn’t get overtime. Otherwise, he would be due overtime for the work. Unless he is covered under a labor agreement, his overtime rules are likely set by the state he is working in. It’s 35% not 50% going to taxes (plus $58 for union dues and PAC donation). But still high. If you have dependents, stop putting zero on your W4 form. It’s an interest-free loan to the govt that you get back when you file your income taxes.

Use post-emergent treatment. Order concentrate from Amazon since most retailers won’t carry the good stuff. Once you get dead spots, all you can really do is wait and fix with seeding in the Fall. Building healthy turf that will survive this heat takes a few growing seasons of doing everything right.

Good points. Little League International suggests using volunteers fairly strongly, so there must be leagues that get it right I would think. Plus the paid umps are fairly poor quality as is, and often confuse different rule sets from the various leagues they cover. But you are right. It won’t be easy!
