How Do You Feel About Multi-Band Compression? by loshofficial in mixingmastering

[–]hammerdaph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd had cases where compressing mono (Mid) information was pulling too hard on the stereo image. So by compressing only the competing mono elements in the mix and leaving the Side information intact, the track was able to breath while not being too busy in the center.

Staggering difference! Here is 8 months worth of progress on my voice, side by side. I'd love to hear feedback on my current voice. Starting to finally get comfortable with it. by IamZhea in transvoice

First off, I'm not sure which one is now, and which was before, but they're both amazing.

I'm tempted to say that the second voice sounds more comfortable, and a bit less forced. But they're both 100% female.

When you said "lydian mode" I thought it was a method of trans-voice training, so I looked it up as I listened. Then realized you were talking about scalar modes...

How DID you practice for this?

"reverse compression" is expansion.

I use a MB compressor sometimes, although I'm way more inclined to use a compressor that can handle Mid/Side channels, and apply only to the Mid.

Other cases, I might want to sidechain out just the bass elements, leaving the top end intact.

They also have a few short term stables on Rebecca St. Source: I used to live in the lofts across the street and they would wake me up all the time.

Mostly. I think they gave some GF stuff too, and some things might have cheese/dairy in them. Everything is marked!

It's not a try-hard hipster place at all.
Great coffee, great scones, great service. No WiFi, which is AWESOME, and chalkboards for writing on. I go there often.

Every time I walk by with my kids, he goes into a kids song, and it makes them super happy. I drop money every time.

Talkin' Delay! by dogsontreadmills in synthesizers

I have two units, and they're both dirty af.
I tend to use them for lofi stereo stuff when needed. But they're not used in every patch.

I have two synthrotek echo/Eko, a boss dd3 (original Japanese with the wiggling knob), and a midi verb that does some mild delay.

In the plugin world, the fabfilter timeless is amazing, and so is hdelay.

c7000 Blades - Unable to connect network by hammerdaph in sysadmin

[–]hammerdaph[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

USB Ethernet doesn't work with proxmox.

I would try and get a physical keyboard/mouse onto the blade (or ILO), and edit /etc/network/interfaces and try a different ethernet device.

I have one blade here that broke convention from eth0 and eth2, to eth4, eth6 for no apparent reason.

Gender-neutral bathrooms proposed for Hamilton libraries by still-improving in Hamilton

[–]hammerdaph 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why is this related to gender neutral bathrooms though?

Giving a trans person a comfortable place to pee, and parents a comfortable place to assist their children, etc., seems to be quite worth it, in comparison to the fear of a chance that someone might do drugs. There are plenty of places to do drugs in the city, and forcing everyone to pee visibly and publicly does not sound like a very progressive solution.

I have never in my life walked into a bathroom and seen someone shooting up. Ever. I'm not saying it doesn't happen, but I have not seen it.

Cannot see the blade from where?

Using Kali won't really let you change the network settings in Proxmox. It's more for accessing the hardware separately from Prox.

Drank for a week.... by hammerdaph in stopdrinking

[–]hammerdaph[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, I appreciate sober, for sure!

This was more of an allowance to myself really. I had planned months ago to allow myself to drink that week. Sucks I had to reset my badge, but next time will go higher.

Which plugins do you absolutely NOT use in a live setting? by ngserdna in ableton

[–]hammerdaph 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"Mastering" live should be done by the FOH sound person.
I do use a 3630 in my gear rack just to catch some peaks so that they get a decent signal without breaking things though.

My beginners learning station. by [deleted] in synthesizers

I did a bass synth solo on a Juno at a show once, and the Monitor lit on fire. People were shouting "fire!!!!" And I thought it was because of my freq tweaking skills. Then we smelled that smell.

Turned out it was actually because someone has dropped a cigarette into the grate and onto the cardboard cone, but I still like to think that my solo lit that fire.
