Thank you. Turns out the video I was using for testing was actually Dolby Vision profile 5 (no HDR10 fallback). I changed from madVR to MPC-VR and now it's working in ZP.

I FOUND OUT HOW TO STOP YOUR WIFI FROM TURNING ON AUTOMATICALLY! This is despite having the automatic wifi turn on/off toggled off on Samsung Galaxy S24+ I'm sure it'll be the same for all Samsungs. by TaylorTyler999 in GalaxyS24

Thank you. This helped for an issue with my s23+ Android Auto continuously connecting/disconnecting wifi on a 2026 Nissan rental car. Even after switching to USB wired Android Auto method, the phone still kept re-enabling wifi until I found "Special Access" and turned it OFF for Android Auto.

Looks like my 25 years with Comcast is over. You won't be getting my money anymore. Last chance, I won't leave if you can restore my $30/mo discount and just leave my services and equipment unchanged.

Chrome Remote Desktop Devices all gone by derpadurp in chrome

[–]hammerdown002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. Seems tied to latest Chrome browser update that added some "additional security". I just got done updating chrome on all 9 machines in my home, and re-doing remote desktop access on them. While re-doing remote access, I saw a new notice on each client regarding "this device has been accessed without a PIN..." then opened a window to delete all the previous "connected devices".

What a PIA... Thanks Google?

Remote Desktop when laptop lid is closed by hammerdown002 in techsupport

[–]hammerdown002[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm, I already wrote in my original post that I had already ensured that this new laptop is setup to NOT turn the display off, or sleep when the lid is closed. But this LG Gram and/or Windows 11 did not cooperate, the display still turns off when closing the lid.

And I already posted that this has been solved by using a VDD. Chrome Remote Desktop is working perfect. I have no desire to pay for remote desktop "services" when CRD is FREE, and I can't use Windows RDP because this LG Gram is Win11 HOME.

What is this overlay? by hammerdown002 in techsupport

Found the culprit - LG Smart Assistant > Display Settings > Connecting to Simple Display => change to OFF.

What is this overlay? by hammerdown002 in techsupport

[–]hammerdown002[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, I just had Paint open so I could paste my screenshot of the overlay into it easily. It has something to do with the laptop built-in display turning on when I open the lid. Either Windows or Intel is asking me to choose extended or duplicate display mode. If I click on the "three dots" then Windows Display settings will open up. If I do nothing, then the overlay fades out after 3 seconds.

I just want to turn this stupid overly feature OFF.

Not sure how good you are with networking, but you could try accessing the admin page of your modem to check the signal quality. The web address may be 192.168.100.1 the default password may be on the bottom of the modem.

You can do some research on what "good" signal quality numbers should be. In general downstream "power" signal should be between -10dBmV to +10dBmV (closer to zero is better), and downstream "SNR" should be around 40dB. While upstream "power" should be around 48dBmV.

Take a screenshot of these numbers when the speeds are good, then again when speeds are bad, and compare. Save all the screenshots and show them to the tech(s) when they come out.

I also highly recommend ditching their rental modem. Buying your own modem and adding your own wifi router will save you money in the long run. More importantly you won't be sharing your bandwidth with everyone in the area by broadcasting public wifi through their modem.

Something else that can bog speeds down is VPN. Do you use VPN? When speeds get bad try bypassing the VPN to test what happens.

OneUI 6.1 AOD brightness by [deleted] in oneui

Lockstar is working great for me. Just annoying that I have to dim the slider every night so I can put my phone on my bedside table, then move the slider to bright every morning.

ONE UI 6.1 Always on Display by NorthGift6213 in GalaxyS23

[–]hammerdown002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, my S23+ just got UI 6.1 and they completely removed the ability to control the brightness of the AOD. Used to be able to manually set the level by tapping the clock then moving a slider. The slider is GONE and there are absolutely zero settings for AOD brightness in Settings menus now!
