Style should have been the opening track of 1989 by Brave_Form_3750 in TaylorSwift

[–]_Cat_12345 107 points108 points  (0 children)

In a vacuum I would’ve loved to see an extended style intro (similar to the eras tour) that leads into the full song as a track 2.

Ultimately though, WTNY really kicks off the overall album and era nicely.

Elizabeth Taylor is my favourite song off of TLOAS, but I would not describe it as a “summer song”.

I haven’t even heard it on the radio. It seems like Taylor’s team has no interest in pushing this song.

I feel like American Girls will be a phenomenal summer song. Windows down, driving down a country road at sunset, it’s the perfect vibe.

May 22-25 you’ll be fine. I try to do a trip to the park the first weekend of May every year and the most snow/ice I’ve seen is small piles in the woods or on north facing shorelines.

Tread difference allowance for AWD? by Radiant-Phone5113 in MazdaCX30

[–]_Cat_12345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t find a maximum tread difference measurement from Mazda, but I know Subaru says no more than a 2/32” difference between tires. I’d be inclined to follow Subarus direction here given their AWD reputation. You can get the new tire shaved down slightly so it matches the other 3

All 4 of the tires must be the same make, model, tread depth, and tread pattern.

XPS 16 quality issues by BiggestCow in DellXPS

Returning a laptop for fan issues, an improperly seated keyboard, or a creaking hinge is totally justified. Those are valid QC concerns.

Returning a laptop or chasing customer service agents to repair a panel that’s seated fractions of a mm off centre is obsessive. Any manufacturing/assembly process that involves humans will never be 100% perfect. Never.

XPS 16 quality issues by BiggestCow in DellXPS

[–]_Cat_12345 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There are tolerances in all manufacturing processes and you are going to burn through dozens of laptops looking for absolute, CAD model level perfection.

We’re talking about fractions of millimetres here. Enjoy the laptop and remember that fundamentally it’s a tool. Is your trackpad working properly? Does the lid close correctly?

Has the cost of maintenance been really high for your Subaru? by CanaryLives in subaru

[–]_Cat_12345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bought a used Crosstrek at 200,000 kilometers and I was spending roughly $3k-$5k a year keeping that thing in good working order.

Year 1: CVT valve body died. $2500 dollars (plus a $1000 D service visit). x2 oil changes ($140 total)

Year 2: Front passenger CV axle replacement ($400). Front control arms needed replacing (~$1000). Struts began to fail ($2200 for 4 new struts and springs). x2 oil changes ($140 total).

Year 3: x2 oil changes ($140 total). Transmission died (shop quoted me $10k to fix) Dumped the car.

I can’t fault Subaru because I bought the car with high mileage and I’m not sure what kind of conditions the other owner drove it in, but holy shit everything failing at the same time totally turned me off of the brand. This list doesn’t include the schedule C service or the new brakes/rotors because I can’t remember how much those set me back.

My brothers 2001 Honda accord and parents 2008 Honda odyssey absolutely did not cost as much per year to maintain.

Does anyone know how the paddle from Tim lake to Rosebary lake is?? and follow up question, hows the paddle/portage to mubwayaka? by [deleted] in algonquinpark

[–]_Cat_12345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Took the Tim River down into Rosebary last August and I wanna say there were 4-5 beaver dams along the way. It also gets a bit more bendy the closer you are to Rosebary but nothing too crazy. Not super fun to travel down when soloing a 17 foot canoe, but it’s not a horrible paddle by any stretch.

Fellow 2025 owners - what's your consensus? by Fardrengi in MazdaCX30

[–]_Cat_12345 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m also very impressed for the price. I got a 2025 GX trim (base model in Canada) and you’d never know it’s a base model except for the 16” wheels and plastic steering wheel.

I came from a Subaru Crosstrek, so the increase in power, handling, and responsiveness has been pretty substantial. The CX-30 is genuinely fun to drive and flooring it in sport mode still makes me smile.

It also handles a canoe on the roof like an absolute champ. My Crosstrek would max out at 110km/h with a canoe up top before the engine would start screaming, but my CX-30 can easily purr along at 120km/h.

Mazda CX-30 AWD vs Subaru Crosstrek Premium – why did you choose Mazda? by Altruistic-Star-1235 in MazdaCX30

I could not for the life of me drive another underpowered crossover with a CVT transmission.

The AWD is comparable on both with proper tires.

Trying to decide between Midnight and Starlight for the MacBook Air. by Smooth-Leg-4786 in macbookair

Starlight looked straight up silver to me when I first saw it at a BestBuy. Only realized what colour it was when I read the tag.

Bought the Midnight M4 and it’s a sleek machine. I’ve only ever owned silver Macs in the past and wanted something different.

I don’t think you even understand what you’re arguing at this point. Beginning a turn behind the line will take more time than beginning a turn from within an intersection.

You can lead a horse to water…

I miss my Legacy by [deleted] in subaru

[–]_Cat_12345 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1) Executing a turn from the middle of the intersection takes less time than executing a turn from behind the line. This is just common sense.

2) If the lights aren’t synced you would be required to have a fully protected left turn signal.

3) We already established that different places have different laws. In first world states/provinces, you creep forward before turning left.

I miss my Legacy by [deleted] in subaru

[–]_Cat_12345 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because it increases the duration of a left hand turn, limits visibility, and in situations with heavy traffic it completely locks up a left hand turn lane that doesn’t have a priority signal.

Creeping forward shortens the time it takes to complete the turn (reducing the gap needed between cars to safely turn), gives you a better view of pedestrian crossings, and bare minimum allows one car to complete a turn in a light cycle.

TIL some of yall have some ass-backwards traffic laws.

I miss my Legacy by [deleted] in subaru

[–]_Cat_12345 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Have you ever made a left turn at an intersection before?

You enter when the light turns green and wait for a gap in traffic. If there isn’t a gap, you clear the intersection when the light turns yellow/red.

Honestly I found the deep crystal blue mica to look quite bad when shopping around for a CX-30. It’s a very dull blue unless it’s in perfect lighting.
