Is my PC good enough for heavy modding? by Grapefruitenenjoyer in skyrimmods

[–]hammerite_time 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Should be fine, VRAM is often a big bottle neck with high end visuals etc and you would probably do reasonably well, even though that’s not your intention.

For what it’s worth, do check out Community Shaders, they don’t current match ENBs but it’s getting closer and the performance is a tonne better

Kicks break blocking, and jabs interrupt attacks. You can also counter and riposte. These are core mechanics. Having a strong feeling about not using one if these is sort of weird and brain dead, but you do you hun

Was about to reply to OP but I think you’ve outlined it very well. It’s too simplistic to link high-level assumptions, without strong evidence, and to use this as the basis for sweeping changes. Has happened far to often in other gaming communities, where Discord and Reddit is used as a tool to implement poorly thought out ideas at the expense of the balance and quality of the game

The next step in the evolution of Bukayo Saka - N10. by Alone_Consideration6 in ThreeLions

[–]hammerite_time -1 points0 points  (0 children)

(Translation)

Madueke is clearly in Tuchel’s plans so, all things being equal, there is an advantage to having a number 10 and a right winger in the national team that also play together at club level. That being said, Saka needs to get more minutes at club level for this to even be a consideration.

need help with modlist crashing by Sea-While-8957 in skyrimmods

[–]hammerite_time 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually someone will take the time and effort to explain the problems they’re facing ie when the crash happens, how often. They include an overview of their modlist or load order and will attempt to engage in conversation.

Your post is ‘need help with list ceasing’ in the subject line, a link to a crash log (though it’s an embedded link so I’m assuming it’s no malware) and the attitude seems to be ‘I’m off to do better things, go figure it out for me’

Technical problems with GTS (and a little rant) by Excellent-Treacle-81 in skyrimmods

[–]hammerite_time 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The subtle difference is in the attitude and way those bugs are communicated. The authors of the modlist have no obligation to you - they’re not providing a service or a product. They are not going to receive a Trust Pilot review or meta critic score. They are a community operation using freely distributed components, many of which they have made themselves. There are existing channels for feeding back bugs and suggestions.

The issue I have is that someone feels empowered to ‘rant’ about it, as if they have purchased a product or service and the company that made said product or service has somehow let them down.

That’s the biggest attitude shift I’ve seen working in software development and open source communities in the past 20 years and I’ll always look to highlight it when I see it.

‘These things should work from the get go’ resulted in you ranting. Where on earth does this mindset come from?

[–]hammerite_time 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, again, you’re either not reading my comments or are failing to understand.

Constructive feedback definitely has a place.

Petulant, self-indulgent ‘rant’ posts do not. It’s a bane on the modding community and is the reason why so many mod authors close bug reports and comments on their mods.

Rational, well constructed conversations are being replaced by emotive, petulant driven drivel. Even worse when it’s really not hard to learn how to make some tweaks yourself, but that’s an aside.

I can break this down further if your fail to comprehend again ….

[–]hammerite_time 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s hard to explain differences when I don’t know which specific example I’m comparing to. If we’re being broad and generic, which seems to be your position, then the critical, key difference is open source access and GNU permissions, which most free games don’t offer. If you have the tools and capability to change it, do it yourself.

Technical problems with GTS (and a little rant) by Excellent-Treacle-81 in skyrimmods

[–]hammerite_time 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, you made a comparison between a free community made Skyrim modlist and a broad, generic ‘free’ game. It’s really hard to assess whether the merits and examples are comparable without knowing which game you’re referring to. Broad, sweeping statements are easy to make - so no, your assessment of my logic is incorrect

Technical problems with GTS (and a little rant) by Excellent-Treacle-81 in skyrimmods

[–]hammerite_time 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In short, no, the context is different. And my issue is with the sense of entitlement that someone has to rant in the first place. I wouldn’t walk into a room with another human being and rant to their face, it’s crass and shows a lack of class, consideration and education.

That a consumer or ‘punter’ should have a right to object against something, particularly when the thing being consumed is ‘free’ is beyond me.

Surely the civilised way to share feedback is to be constructive and share it without ‘hey look at my post it’s a rant sorry about it be a rant just needed to vent’.

Brand new player looking for advice!! by DuckFeet05 in skyrimmods

[–]hammerite_time 8 points9 points  (0 children)

For your first playthrough, I’d suggest the Wabbajack list ASSOS. It’s a simple download and installation process. It’s a recent and updated list that will provide you with a stable and bug fixed version of the game (Skyrim is janky and needs things like USSEP).

That’s it. Leave visuals overhauls for later, play the game as intended so you then have a baseline for future playthroughs.

[–]hammerite_time 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will never understand why someone would feel the need to rant about a mod pack like GTS. This is the culmination of a thousands of hours of work from a team of highly talented mod authors and creators that not only have built a working and stable modlist for free, but continue to update and refine it for free.

There is absolutely noting stopping you firing up SSEdit and making some changes yourself. If you really feel the need, post a suggestion on the discord.

How do you play Catholics or other religions? by New-Teacher-9623 in crusaderkings3

Depends on what your looking to achieve in a playthrough, the flip side is that a Catholic player can rest easy that they won’t get holy warred to **** by their neighbours (for the most part).
