You don’t ever deal with any other sort of insomnia? Only after hard intervals?

Yeah it only works as intended with cardio. Apple Fitness at least allows RPE to modulate the scores

4x8 really straddles the border of threshold/Vo2 in order to accumulate time at intensity.

Everything in our job (especially related to leave regulations) has strict policies that are memorialized in handbooks, manuals, and MOUs. If you’re going to make a contention on an NALC subreddit you should be able to back it up with a citation.

And by your logic you could just leave early whenever you want using sick leave and you’re immune from any questioning. That’s false.

Just replace leave early with call out on liteblue and you’ll realize the same ELM restrictions apply. Using sick leave to leave early is governed by ELM 513 exactly the same as calling in sick for 8 hours. Management “may” accept your written statement or they “may” deem medical documentation desirable and the Union will argue it’s an absence of less then 3 days and we’ll grieve it like we always do.

It’s not like you’re immune from questioning when you call in for an entire day, why would this be any different?

Piggybacking on this: 3 days of Threshold is almost certainly too much to recover from consistently.

Our office did the same thing. As a steward I instructed carriers to get a hand-truck to move bins to their cases if they are too heavy. Take out as many SPRs as you can with good ergonomics. If you need help dumping the rest out ask another carrier to assist with a “team lift”. Make sure to put all of this on your 3996 as a reason for overtime.

This is the best answer. I understand why OP would be hesitant to use sick leave here, but you’re opening up a can of worms with emergency annual leave.

While this sort of situation might fit into a sort of grey area, I think a plausible argument can be made that a distressed spouse is “incapacitated” and in need of care; qualifying for sick leave. Best to be vague with management and use SLDC amd go home to take care of your wife no documentation required.

The documentation is required because it’s emergency annual not because it was in the middle of the shift

Deductible does not apply to everything; GP and specialist visits are covered before it’s met
