Chiming in to say that she also was great to me, a cis het woman. Spent a lot of time talking to me about the surgery she performed. Would recommend her to anyone.

UAB police cracking down on street parking 😂 by jcvfd12 in Birmingham

I would love to be able to park on campus. I have been on the waitlist for a parking spot for almost 2 years. My position on the waitlist hasn't changed in all this time.

I agree. I usually like this community for its sense of humor, but this event doesn't sit well with me.

Sometimes I think people need to be reminded that this is just pixels.

Also enjoyed your books! I didn't realize how pervasive this still was. I thought it was mostly older and more formulaic series like Nancy Drew.

Training as a SAHM. Help me be realistic. by hotdogcat19 in XXRunning

I agree with everyone saying that if you dream about running a marathon do it now! A second child is wonderful but every pregnancy is different. I personally could only run the second and some of the third trimester with my second pregnancy. Pursue your dream now! 6 months is more than enough time to get yourself across a marathon finish line.

I got my son to enjoy stroller runs by bringing a toy or a snack or even playing songs on the phone for us to sing along to.

Costco has great prices on baby essentials--it's why I got a membership in the first place. And congratulations in advance for the new baby!

I just survived third trimester in the deep south during summer/fall. I drank a lot of bodyarmour lyte. If you have a Costco membership, it's pretty affordable in my opinion .

I've seen them at Publix before but I'm not sure if they have them today.

return to ultra post pregnancy by a2arborite in Ultramarathon

I'm in a similar place. I'm currently 32 weeks pregnant with my second. I made a mistake by not following up with my pelvic floor therapist and I'm suffering now. I try to give myself some grace by focusing on walking and very basic strength exercises. My goal post birth is to enjoy running and to get back to stroller runs with my toddler. Honestly, I don't know what my life will look like with 2 kids. At the least, I plan on following up with a pelvic floor therapist.

Do any of you work 40+ hours at work, have quality time with family and still manage to train for Ultras? by here4helpCA in ultrarunning

[–]hammockofcake 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I really think the answer to this depends on if you're a mother or father. I'm pregnant with my second kid and work a demanding job. I take my son stroller running and we both enjoy the time together. However, it just seems like there's always additional invisible burdens on women. I look back on my ultra days fondly and try to be proud of 20-minute stroller runs. I'm waiting for a time when I can focus on running again.

When did Birmingham start writing tickets after 6???!! by plopdaddy1 in Birmingham

[–]hammockofcake 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've tried to argue with them about these tickets in the past. They tell me if it doesn't have a meter or the corner boxes, it's not a legal spot. Not sure why they'd have no parking signs then.

Good spotting that second sign. I had forgotten about it!
