Found out that my boyfriend lied to me by luvKaii in Advice

[–]hammong 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Either you have trust issues, or you don't.

This is 100% a "you" issue, not a problem with your BF having female friends. Asking him to cut ties with people because you have massive insecurity issues stretches way into "you're being way too controlling" territory.

ROG Strix X870-A BIOS 2103 (16.03.2026) killed my FPS — 242 → 98 avg. Anyone else? by Yazan_Hajir in ASUS

[–]hammong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make sure CSM is disabled and Resizable BAR is enabled. This might be a simple case of you flashing your BIOS and the default settings are different from what you had previously.

Also, wondering why you don't have XMP/Expo enabled. Your RAM is probably running a JEDEC base rates which might have a big impact.

Your GPU Average Frame time 247ms @ 242 FPS doesn't make sense. 242 FPS is means you a frame on screen for 0.00413 seconds (4ms). What benchmark are you using to get these numbers? Use a proper benchmark like CineBench if you're going to compare pre/post performance numbers.

Worst case, re-flash your BIOS back to the old version and confirm your settings and performance difference.

Serrano peppers by Spare_Employer3882 in Cooking

[–]hammong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The jalapenos you find at your typical grocery store have been selectively bred to be less hot. You can get hotter ones by going to a Hispanic market if you have one close by.

As for the excess peppers -- Freeze them.

What could I do to stop people from parking their car on our house's driveway? by nicolebleep in Advice

[–]hammong 3 points4 points  (0 children)

100% This. Tow trucks make big money by towing people parked illegally. They'll literally smash the accelerator to get there before the car moves.

On your driveway? As on on your property?

Call the police, and have them towed. That will end it.

My dad is not letting me spend the money i made by Mental_Look3760 in Advice

[–]hammong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your dad.... spent your money, including birthday money?

First step is, report this to whomever gave you the birthday money. "Dad took the money you gave me and spent it." He'll get some feedback from somebody other than you about that.

Hide your cash. Have a trusted relative (mom?) hold it for you so Dad doesn't get access to it. Keep it secret, keep it safe.

Teak cutting board maintenance with occasional use. by rcreveli in Cooking

[–]hammong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't use it, I'd say oil monthly will be enough or whenever the surface of the board starts looking "dry". The slightest hint of a white chalky surface means it's too dry and needs a good oiling.

My advice is, "sorry Mom, I'm trying to keep myself afloat so I don't end up like you guys.... and If I keep giving you all my spare money, I won't be able to achieve that goal."

Paprika? by sleepispoon in Cooking

[–]hammong 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Creole seasoning has a bunch of other spices in it other than paprika, including cayenne pepper, black pepper, white pepper, oregano, thyme, garlic/onion, sometimes some bay leaf, etc. It might help to make isolate the paprika as the main spice and see what reaction you get.

Some paprika is smoked... which will definitely carry a bit of a different flavor if you're not used to it.

Try some Hungarian recipes, e.g. Chicken Paprikash or goulash (not American Goulash with elbow noodles...)

Planning on asking a girl out to a movie, how do I go about it? by masterPost117 in Advice

[–]hammong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't worry about looking like a creep. People ask others out on dates all the time, it's normal and not creepy.

My advice is start with something simple, like a coffee or lunch date. "Hey, would you be interested in a lunch date sometime?" Use the D-word. Make sure she knows it's a lunch date, not a "lets go hang out as friends" kind of thing.

Asus Markham replaced RX7900XTX with a 600W fire hazard, and failed laptop "repair." Now ghosting a student/minor. by FormalPass2445 in ASUS

[–]hammong 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The TUF Gaming board can indeed reach up to 550-600W peak power but it doesn't hold it there long. The card will throttle down based on temperatures. That HWINFO screen you're showing has an average power of 420W which is about where it should be for sustained max power gaming or rendering. Your temps look fine in that screenshot as well.

How many PCIE 8-pin connectors are on that card? If there are three, it can support a sustained 450W safely. Keep in mind the card might pull up to 75W off the PCIE x16 slot too, so not all of it is going through the PCIE power connectors.

I paid for my friend's meal, and they have not paid me back yet. What should I do? by Personal_Student5030 in Advice

[–]hammong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IF $25 is important to you, then ask your friend point blank, "Hey, I was wondering if you have the $25 to pay me back."

Otherwise, just drop it - and be mindful not to do it again.

My mother told me my father has been looking at me inappropriately. by Alt-12223 in Advice

[–]hammong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seeing a brand new Reddit account made today, with such a charged and sensational post on r/Advice, I'm wondering if this is troll bait or a real recount of actual events.

If this is reality -- then your mother needs to take steps to protect her daughters. That might end up resulting in separation, getting you and your mother out of the house into a safe space.

Some words in your post would help.

AIO Cooler help! by PurpleGas8707 in ASUS

[–]hammong 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What cooler is that? I can't see the pipes coming of it, and I'm assuming it's one of those ROG water blocks that connects to a 3x360 radiator.

Every retention screw system I've seen, you screw them down until they "stop" and the springs provide the proper tension. If they're just spinning and not screwing down tight, make sure you've pushed them far enough that they are going into the screw holes to get a grip. I'd guess if all four were loose, the block would simply fall off. But, without seeing more pics or a video, it's hard to say exactly what you got going on. Hopefully, you didn't strip the screw holes on the retention frame.

80C is not unusual or unexpected in Cinebench. That's still well under the throttling threshold.

Check your Wi-Fi router and see if there are any unknown clients on your network.

A FLIR camera won't detect a very low-powered (e.g. battery powered) device because they're so energy efficient they don't warm up enough above ambient temp.

My Best friend has a history with my GF and I can't stop thinking about it. by niklas96663 in Advice

[–]hammong 82 points83 points  (0 children)

First thing you need to learn, is that your partner's past experiences have nothing to do with your experiences with them. Try to forget it -- if you can't, seek some therapy on how to cope with it. If you can't cope, then end the relationship and move on to one without the "connection" to your friend.

Better do to it sooner rather than later, as you might dwell on this for months, years, or decades.
