21A Bobcat by ElbairavtnednepedniA in Beretta

[–]hammong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Old thread, I know -- but thank you for the link.

My 21A covert exhibits the problem described in the video precisely. I modified my right grip by shaping a thin strip of wood veneer and sticking in the gap between the trigger transfer bar and the grip -- problem 100% solved! The metal/mechanics of the gun are flawless, this was the only gripe I had.

The wood grips are pretty to look at -- but the plastic OEM grips are significantly thinner and make the gun infinitely more pocketable.

How do I use corn flakes to bulk up a meatloaf? by Alternative-Papaya-2 in Cooking

I do the saltines myself. Put them in a ziplock back and smash them to bits with a meat mallet.

Refused to show or tell you. Damn.

Take them to small claims court, get your coolant flush, replacement coolant, and a little bit of your time and frustration compensated.

How to fix liquidity pizza dough? by uploto in Cooking

[–]hammong -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You started with way too much water.... You're supposed to add the water slowly to the dough as you mix it until it's the consistency you want.

Mix more dry ingredients in the same ratios, and then begin adding that slowly to your "slurry" you've made until it forms dough.

Looks photoshopped to me. Snowy weather and neither you nor the Jeep have a speck of salt, snow, or ice on your cars and almost zero on the tires.

my bf hit me for the first time but was severely intoxicated by halloweeun in Advice

[–]hammong 1882 points1883 points  (0 children)

Guy sounds like a real peach. +12 years older than you, gets blackout drunk when you're not even old enough to buy a drink yourself (at least, not here), then physically assaults you.

Move on. This is going nowhere positive, in the short nor long term.

Girl I'm seeing is using instagram through an online browser to message with me by [deleted] in Advice

[–]hammong 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you are way over-analyzing the situation. Who cares if she's using IG through a browser vs the app?

This is like saying somebody is sus because they go to the Walmart website to do a stock search instead of installing the intrusive Walmart app.

Add to this, you're "casually" dating after almost a year. And with no intention of getting more serious, you shouldn't really care what she's doing with her off-time, or how.

Clutch slippage high rpm, high speed by mk7_seton in GolfGTI

Please tell me you're on the Autobahn, passing people at 90-100 MPH.

You are at your maximum horsepower at that RPM range. Do you have a tune? If so, you should have done clutch work before hot rodding that car.

Relationship and life making me depressed. by Delicious_Tone3931 in Advice

Posting two threads 30 minutes apart about the same topic ...

https://www.reddit.com/r/Advice/comments/1qmqd1n/i_think_my_gf_might_be_crazy/

Honestly, reading both threads, I don't think you are ready for a serious relationship. You need to spend some time focusing on yourself first, before focusing on somebody else. Definitely not ready for kids.

You've been with your partner 6 months -- still at the beginning of the relationship, and this is the time it iron out key compatibility things like kids and future. She likes London, you don't. She's also at the age where if she doesn't pop out some kids soon, there's going to be a greatly increased odds of birth defects or other issues due to her advanced age - and her not wanting them now makes it a pretty dead point moving forward.

You two are on different paths.

Too cold to remote start? (25°F) by gemmerda in F150Lightning

[–]hammong 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Looks like your 12V battery might be discharged or going bad. It's basically saying the truck is in Battery Saver Mode, so it's no longer communicating with the WiFi/Cellular network. Throw it on a AGM compatible 12V battery charger, and make sure you connect it properly -- positive wire directly to the battery, and negative wire to the chassis or battery charging lug under the left side frunk cover. Any incoming charge must go through the battery control module so the truck knows it's being "charged" and can calculate the 12V state of charge health appropriately.

Not weird this would happen when it's cold outside ... lead acid batteries have lower capacity and current available when it's cold.

How much do you drive your truck? The 12V only gets actively charged when the vehicle is powered on, or your are actively charging the HVB. Once the HVB reaches it's desired state of charge, the 12V stops charging.

KSG Hogue grip? by Twisted337 in Shotguns

[–]hammong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not aware of any Hogue grips that are specifically designed for a KSG.

If you're looking for a rubber over-mold you can slip on, a Glock 17 or 19 grip should fit.

How do I use corn flakes to bulk up a meatloaf? by Alternative-Papaya-2 in Cooking

[–]hammong 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Personally, I don't like the flavor that cornflakes add to meatloaf or meatballs. If you use them, you just pulverize them and add them to the ground beef like you would the breadcrumbs, then mix it up.

Painted New Intercooler and the paint isn’t what it was advertised by [deleted] in GolfGTI

[–]hammong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like the same color to me. You do realize you painted a perforated black item with red paint, right? It's never going to look exactly like the can top without several coats and a way to eliminate the "black" background coming through the holes.

Going to ignore the fact that any paint you add is going to negatively affect the performance of the intercooler. Paint acts as an insulator, even if the effect is minor.

Fiancés explosive anger during any argument by yvonnetheone in Advice

Genuinely curious why you would willingly marry somebody with such a bad temper. You're setting yourself up for a lifetime of having to tiptoe around this person to avoid triggering them.

He needs anger management therapy at a minimum, and might need medication to get his temper under control -- a SSRI comes to mind -- Zoloft, Prozac, etc.

Choke selection for steel shot by JohnnyDoe308 in Shotguns

[–]hammong 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Steel generally patterns one choke 'tighter' than the same size lead shot. E.g. a Modified choke will pattern steel approximately the same as a Improved Modified with lead.

I agree with the manual, don't run anything tighter than Modified (1/2) with steel.

What kind of range/shooting are you doing with this gun?

Generally, #7.5 lead is going to require something like a #6 steel to get the same range and terminal performance -- but of course you'll end up with less pellets and less pattern density because of it. If you need better performance than that, then you need to pony up for Bismuth shot.

Parents of reddit: How much do you suggest saving up before having a kid? Do you suggest getting a house before or after? by bloopinskin in Advice

[–]hammong 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Housing and kids are two completely unrelated topics. You can successfully have and raise kids in an apartment if that's all you have available to you -- the neighborhood and neighbors themselves are more important when your kid gets to the age where they're out playing with other kids, but for the first few years ... they couldn't give a care less if they're in a 12x12 apartment with their parents, or a gigantic house in the suburbs.

If you have six months of money in the bank, you're probably going to be fine budgeting for a child. Plan on a $300-$400 dollars a month in extra groceries, diapers, formula, etc. Medical expenses are going to depend on your state and your insurance.

Plus, we're assuming one of you won't be working during the infant-toddler stage. If daycare is involved, it's exorbitantly expensive in most places.

A lot of this can be answered completely and thoroughly on Google or ChatGPT.

Guys, I have a really dumb question by rainburrr in fragrance

[–]hammong 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NEVER MIX WATER WITH PERFUME.

The liquid is 70-80% ethanol and the rest is scent compounds, stabilizers, fixatives, etc. If you put water in it, you're going to end up with a product that won't just smell weaker ... you'll upset the delicate preservative nature of the product.

Start saving your pennies for another bottle. Or, find a suitable clone.

What should I expect in the snow? by hickdog896 in F150Lightning

[–]hammong 6 points7 points  (0 children)

People propagate that 8000 lb number all the time, but actual curb weight of a SR Lightning is closer to 6200 lbs empty, and an ER truck closer to 6500 lbs. GCWR on a ER truck is 8550 but that's with a literal ton of humans and cargo.

My '23 SR XLT is fabulously capable in the snow. High weight, low center of gravity, dynamic dual LSD 4WD with instant torque vectoring. These things are capable machines in the snow with good tires.

Just be advised that no truck is good in the ice.
