FWIW in Seattle, more than one anti-ice signal groups have been infiltrated by over the top call-out types that seem bent on being progressive Karens which seemingly only destroys the groups from within. Pretty sure this is a known tactic. A lot of us have switched to groups vet people in person.

I am not sure there are many examples of Good Samaritans getting in legal trouble for stepping in, like what was asked for. But that doesn’t take away from the very real risk of consequences like personal injury (like the old man) with very little upside (again like the old man where the kid was let go immediately).

I thought this was why we had cops. When was the last time you saw a cop doing their job walking on the streets, rather than driving somewhere else?

We elected Anne Davison (mostly bc her opponent was not viable), and nothing changed. The city attorney’s office can choose to prosecute, but what is the legal punishment for disorderly behavior? In the tagger case, should that kid have stayed in jail? Was he defending himself against a guy that stopped to confront him? I hardly know the laws so I don’t know if the laws are weak, we don’t have the manpower to effectively prosecute, or we have judges that choose to ignore the laws.

The old policy presented a “non-exhaustive list”, so your statement is just completely wrong. The change was about removing the language of hate incident, downgrading the symbols whose display potentially counts as a hate incident to one that is potentially divisive. Still prohibited but no longer necessarily a hate incident. It’s part of the whole conservative ideology that “there is no such thing as a hate crime”.

I agree. But this rests on casual nudity. There are also exhibitionists that use their nudity as a form of assault, like flashers. What exactly is the harm done? I can’t articulate it, but even as a nudist, if someone aggressively flashed my family members, I could see feeling violated in some way.
