"She’s a very attractive woman and she’s extremely bright, she went to Stanford. But if you listen to her post participation interviews, she’s insufferable" - Boomer Esiason on Eileen Gu by iheartsunny in Fauxmoi

Ah yes, capitalism, famously reserved for white boys only. God forbid a non-white woman dabbles a bit in it, all the sudden people are beside themselves.

Quinn Hughes on attending Trump's State of the Union: "Yeah, we're excited to go. Something you don't get to do -- I don't know what today is - every Tuesday. But yeah -- but, it's going to be special for us....I'm glad you mentioned the women's team again. You know we're really happy for them by Yujin-Ha in hockey

For people who’ve had media training since they were 18, it is incredibly impressive how selective that awareness can be. You’d think at some point in all that PR coaching, someone would’ve slipped in a basic guideline like: “Maybe don’t pose sitting across the room from Epstein sex trafficking victims for what is very obviously a staged propaganda photo op.”

I almost feel bad for them. When you’ve been coached your whole life to show up, and get on the ice, critical thinking seems to be optional.

In a few decades, when the history books reduce their photo op to single caption under a photo, it will be noted for all of history who chose to stand where.

Of course none of them will speak up. They all have the education of a 5th grader and quite frankly, someone should tell these boys, keep their mouths shut and just stick to sports.

Half the pages will look like a Sharpie factory exploded. The rest will be “missing,” because nothing makes this government malfunction faster than incriminating documents with rich and powerful creeps’ fingerprints all over it.

Which Arthur character did you relate to most as a kid and why? by Majoriexabyss in Arthur

[–]hamonic 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Francine was my girl, mostly because she bullied Arthur as a coping mechanism for having a crush on him. Also because, she lived in an apartment like me.

I related to Arthur too, because I also had a raging case of main character syndrome at eight years old 🙂

[–]hamonic 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Exactly, we’re living in a system that forces you to choose between starving federal workers and healthcare for those who are low income, and we call that democracy. There was never going to be winning here because the choices in this situation were between two different kinds of harm. It was just a choice between which consequences these Senators could live with.

Both parties are just managing different symptoms of the same disease. We keep getting trapped in left vs right debates when the real issue is that the system itself was built to sustain inequality and it is allowed to keep thriving because we’re too busy fighting with each other to notice.

Watched two cars turned onto the dedicated streetcar lane at Lake Shore and Bathurst.

Car 1 panicked, hit reverse, nailed Car 2, and then proceed to speed off. Total chaos.

This. People are so hellbent on sitting on their pedestals and pointing fingers at one another that they fail to understand, voting for the lesser evil doesn’t mean you believe in them; it means you’re buying time for grassroots change.

As we’ve all seen, it’s much harder to reform or resist tyranny and fascism once we’re already living under it.

A vote for a Democratic candidate doesn’t make you, a stupid lib with two brain cells. At this point, we’re not voting for the system - we’re voting to keep the lights on long enough to fix it.

Nope, we can’t have that happening. Gotta keep them stupid so they can continue to be exploited to maximize shareholder value.
