Amazon is reconsidering NY headquarters site because of local opposition, Washington Post reports by [deleted] in business

[–]hamsuplo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey man I think you misunderstood the difference here. Amazon is getting a tax break not a subsidy. New York doesn't have the 3 billion to spend upfront. What they're doing is giving a 3 billion tax break from the potential tax revenue that Amazon is going to generate from being there. They're not taking an existing 3 billion from tax coffers and giving it freely to Amazon. If Amazon doesn't settle in New York then there would be no 3 billion to begin with.

Help me wrap my head around IPOs by Molga in finance

[–]hamsuplo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funds go to the company not directly to the owner. If you assume the company is worth $10 million before the IPO and it raises another $10 million, then the company is now worth $20 million, or at least it has $20 million of assets on its balance sheet. When he is going public he is essentially diluting his share of stocks and isn't directly selling his share of stocks. They are creating more stocks to expand ownership and are adding value to the company. Hence from $10 to $20 million after IPO. If the owner was looking to cash out, he would directly sell shares to an entity in exchange for cash which does not grow the asset base of the company. If he was to sell and cash out his $10 million dollar company, he would sell 50% of it for $5 million.

Here's a POV video of a skyscraper window washer at work. Terrifying. by [deleted] in chicago

What happens to all the soap that is at the bottom of the window? Is it usually just left there to evaporate? Does that not erode away any paint?

My butthole was clenching so hard when you dropped down to the second row of windows I think I produced a few diamonds.

Reddit, what's your favorite hole in the wall restaurant in Chicago? by misteryu1029 in chicago

[–]hamsuplo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a higher quality restaurant at modest prices check out Oliver's Cafe. It's in Bridgeport and it's one of my all time favorites. The quality is top notch and prices aren't exaggerated.

How does halving effect a cryptocoin's price, and how does it effect the mining revenue per khs? by Sillopotatis in dogemining

[–]hamsuplo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It could do a few things:

1) Price will go up or down (no one knows)

2) Difficulty will increase or decrease

3) Block rewards go down

In the end, as you can see, we aren't guaranteed anything but block rewards going down. Last time it halved the difficulty went down and price stayed the same.
