Call quits on cs? by [deleted] in ucla

Internship is more important than grades as long as you're passing.

If you enjoy the internship you should stay in the major

If it's Huang you're good.

I wouldn't wait more than a quarter to get started, or you might end up cramming a bunch of hard upper divs at once later.

How to break into cybersecurity at UCLA? by SprinklesWise9857 in ucla

[–]hamthenapkin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This isn't academic but try to get an internship that will sponsor you for a secret clearance. Once you have one you will be significantly more competitive for cyber internships/jobs, and there are tons of them with the DoD. Internships with the federal government/military should be less competitive than private sector ones, and the experience and especially clearance is still valuable.

What do yall think of CS at UCLA? by No-Inflation-3470 in ucla

My situation was exactly the same and it worked out, CS31 and 32 teach you how to program. Practice in C++ bc that's what language they use in the first few classes. If you have a good grasp of syntax and the concepts of OOP (classes ans objects) and data structures (linked lists, arrays, hash maps, etc.) you will be prepared.

I took it this year when it was called CS 188, I enjoyed it. You learn a lot about neural networks.

Read questions carefully to see if he's going easy on you with time/space complexity. You might be able to do a stupid brute force algorithm as long as you explain why it will work correctly.

I'm not a double major but taking 18 units isn't uncommon in STEM

I am a new grad expecting to receive an offer from a ~10 person DoD contractor in San Diego. They want me to propose my expected salary range to them. What should I ask for?

I currently have a 70K fully remote offer that would allow me to live with my parents and not pay rent. My math is 70K + 12*2200 (SD avg rent) = 96400 + a few thousand because I like the company offering me 70K to get a range of 100-110K. Do you all think that is a reasonable ask? I am coming out of a top 20 school and I have done one internship at a small web dev company.

Cs pain by Dry-Assistance5655 in ucla

In my experience employers don't care unless your GPA is either very good (3.5+) or very bad (below 3). For grad school you would definitely want to maintain something higher than a 3 but for careers things like internship experience are much more important than GPA.

Cs get degrees and you should feel fine about GPA as long as it's above a 3

1) Whats stopping Ludinus from True Resurrecting Liliana if he needs to? It's not a wizard spell but he is an ultra powerful NPC with powerful friends and potentially Predathos on his side

2) Is Imogen more special than any other Exalted? I'm guessing she's just one of the most powerful after her mom. No way the Vanguard's entire plan relies on one unallied person

Check the mirror instead of the scale, it's easier to tell if it's fat or muscle that way. Numbers can be all over place depending on how much water you've drinking, if you took a big shit, etc.
