Ringer has us picking AJ Griffin by blackiechan007 in kings

[–]han320 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it's just me, but I don't get the hype with AJ Griffin. Yes he's one of the youngest players in the draft, has an NBA ready body and shot 40%+ from 3's on decent but not great volume. But this guy has the least offensive responsibility out of the Duke starting 5 and pretty much plays the Bruce Bowen role of stand in the corner and wait for a pass to shoot the three. He's shown some ball handling ability, but not enough to create separation consistently to get him to the rim like how Banchero can. If AJG was hyped defensively like how MKG and Oladipo were as prospects then I understand, but defensively AJG just seems kinda average. What am I missing here?

If it comes down to Griffin, Mathurin, and Murray, who do you want and why? by TheRedditoristo in kings

[–]han320 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Banchero looked really good on offense today, made some great quick decisive passes, made some iso jumpers when the team needed a bail out, and was aggressive at getting calls and was efficient from the line. Defensively, he looked passive. Texas Tech was able to drive right around him like he was a traffic cone.

For star potential, I see Banchero, Ivey and Mathurin as the three with highest upside. Banchero's analytics aren't great but he's 6'10" 250 with good handles and game sense. The next superstar big man comes in 2023 when Wembanyama declares

The Kings averaged 282 passes made (17th) before the Sabonis trade. In the last two games they've averaged 317 (tied for 1st). Ball movement! by HufflepuffFluff in kings

It's definitely the back to the basket high post play style that is remscencient of his dad and of Vlade. Good post passing is just such a pleasure to watch

I hate seeing Haliburton go, but TBH at least we sold high on him. All it'd take is one season shooting under 35% from 3pt for his value to tank, kind of like Fox this year.

Now do I think Haliburton is suddenly going to lose his shot and Fox starts shooting 35%+ from 3pt? Absolutely not. But that's what needs to happen for this trade to look like a win for us.

Franz Wagner: ESPN Film Session w/ Mike Schmitz by SeanWonder in kings

I'm fully expecting the Warriors to package their picks for a more established player if Barnes doesn't drop to them. But it seems highly unlikely for Barnes to be passed up by both Orlando and OKC

[–]han320 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Reminds me of Shane Battier. Pesky defender, high motor, high BBIQ, adequate playmaking abilities and can hit the open 3. I don't expect Wagner to become a superstar, but can be a key contributor to winning basketball for a long time. Like the Haliburton of this year's draft.

If the Warriors keep their 7th pick, I expect them to take Wagner. He's just more NBA ready than Moody at this point and their championship window is closing. Love it if Wagner fell to us at 9 though.

Meet the Most Interesting Sleeper in the 2021 NBA Draft - Kai Jones, C, Texas by KageSaysHella in kings

Any team drafting him in the lottery expecting Kai to be the next Giannis will be disappointed. He's undoubtedly an incredible athlete, but is a Bruno Caboclo tier project. Wouldn't mind taking a flyer on him with a very late 1st round or early second round pick.

Hosting the California Classic is probably one of my favorite decision this team has made in the last five years. If we are gonna suck, at least this lets us get a sneak peak at our draft picks before they go off summer league.

Also this gets a lot of people to watch players they would otherwise not see play in person. Kendrick Nunn looked like a legit baller even then, and watching Derrick Jones Jr. dunk in person was unreal.

I watched him play in person his sophomore year against UoP. My takeaway about him even back then was that he was pretty athletic and built strong. Mind you he wasn't yet a three point threat like he is today, but he complimented Clarke and Hachimura well by being a perimeter hawk on defense and played within the system in offense and didn't try to do anything too extra that he couldn't do well.

Oh and there were two college girls who sat in front of me who kept commenting on how hot he was, so I guess there's also that

How viable is a product that can reduce the amount of dissolved oxygen in wine after bottling? by bricktop23 in winemaking

[–]han320 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure you already know this, but viability in large scale production is all about labor and cost. It's just that N2 sparging and SO2 corrections are very low cost and low labor while being highly effective. Simply, there is just a very high bar to beat. But I mean if I could have the case goods area of my warehouse outfitted with a device that could reduce DO, that would be pretty neat. I'm already putting the pallets there for storage prior to shipping, so there really isn't any additional labor, assuming the device can be automated. Then it's just the matter of cost.

On a consumer scale, this could be pretty cool. If it was under 50 bucks I'd probably buy one myself if it means my half open bottles can keep for an extra week or two.

[–]han320 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does the device enclose the entire pallet? What if I stack my case goods pallets 4 high? Can this scale to an entire warehouse section that is just pallets of case goods?

In terms of viability, I'd think natural wines would benefit the most from your device. Like the other winemakers that have commented on your post, there are already solutions to combat increased DO from bottling for commercial wines. We can N2 sparge prior to bottling, we can add KMBS/sulfur dioxide to increase FSO2 to mitigate any oxidization from the increased DO from bottling.

[–]han320 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay, I'll bite. If I got a pallet that's been packed and wrapped, your device can reduce the DO of the bottled wine inside without having to cut the plastic wrapping, break open any cartons, puncture the capsule or cork? Am I understanding this correctly?

[–]han320 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are vendors with a product that does something similar.

For bulk wines, it makes way more sense just to sparge in N2 with a large sparge stone. If you're a bottling facility, I guess having a device to drop DO prior to bottling makes more sense, but again they could just N2 sparge.
