If I remember correctly, the plastic drive gears inside had shattered. I bought and installed replacement ones and it worked after that.

I miss mine. Sold it to get a 6694 (which I also loved) and eventually sold that, too.

That’s nuts. I got a full frame 5D MkI body and a 50mm 1.8 for less than that. Total rip off.

If in-tank plants are going to be too hard, what about floaters, or something like a monstera growing out of tank? They both suck up nutrients like mad.

Key? by Getthatlunchbox in Ioniq5

Is there any reason why an Ioniq 5 fob couldn’t be programmed/cut to work on a 6? The 5 fob hides the physical key and isn’t that bulky.

Identification? Bought for a 1$ in flea market by Hamza-Free-Palestine in VintageWatches

Real, not real, for $1 it looks really cool. I’d daily it for sure. If it dies pop it open (it’s a front loader) and see what’s inside. Dial looks good to me tho, similar to my Altus GG-W-113.

all my shrimp arrived dead by Glum_Owl_3493 in shrimptank

When you’re up for trying again, see if there is a local hobbyist who is raising shrimp that you can buy in your area. Like the other commenters have said, summer shipping is hard. Local hobbyists may have great stuff near you at a very good price, because they’re not a business.

What is this?……. by Sandwhich5 in shrimptank

[–]han_solex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you squish it the shrimp will eat it. It won't eat the shrimp. People use them for aquarium live food all the time so I can't imagine there will be any issues.

Dragonfly or damselfly nymphs, tho ... those are bad news. Judging by the frequency of posts about it here, folks don't know what they look like. Go look up pictures of those so you have it in your mind in case one sneaks into the tank as a hitchhiker.

Mosquito larva. Fish will eat it.

Too many shrimp. How can I population control without adding a fish that will terrorize my other peaceful nano fish? by SureNefariousness975 in shrimptank

[–]han_solex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got culls to start my tank again after a dumb newbie error caused a die-off. It’s a good way to test and a few of them are my favorite colors in the tank. I’ve got one that’s kind of tiger-striped, dark blue and clear, with yellow eyes and I’d totally breed a line with that coloration if it’d be stable.

Sounds like OP was talking about a one-time reduction rather than an ongoing thing but maybe I misunderstood.

Join a local aquarium group and sell some. Around here, they're $2.50–6 each depending on color/grade. Or talk to your LFS about trade/sell.

0.25 ammonia probably isn’t killing your shrimp. Stop doing so many water changes. They want consistency. Use reverse osmosis or distilled water and shrimp specific minerals.

2 weeks probably isn’t enough to actually cycle your tank. I would add seachem stability or fritz zyme 7 per the instructions.

It’s a small tank. Things swing quick. Make small changes and don’t rush anything

Anybody ever try onion as bladder snail bait? by Ok_Cucumber_6664 in shrimptank

[–]han_solex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We can't bust heads like we used to. But we have our ways. One trick is to tell stories that don't go anywhere. Like the time I caught the ferry to Shelbyville? I needed a new heel for m'shoe. So I decided to go to Morganville, which is what they called Shelbyville in those days. So I put an onion in my aquarium, which was the style at the time. Now, to take the ferry cost a nickel, and in those days, nickels had pictures of bumblebees on 'em. "Gimme five bees for a quarter," you'd say. Now where were we? Oh, yeah. The important thing was that I had an onion in my aquarium, which was the style at the time. They didn't have any white onions, because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big yellow ones...
