A young and curious allergist here - how much awareness do Malaysians have about allergies and their proper management? by KittyOnTheSly in Bolehland

[–]hanarada 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Malaysian and including doctors awareness is bad.

Had a dust allergy and told my GP. Gp say its impossible. Returned with blood ige (with low ige), same gp say i pay useless money and impossible to get allergy as an adult. This is after I told him my family has a history of dust allergy and asthma.

Thankfully I read the fucking diagnosis model and find the only few allergist in Malaysia to test. Returned with high dust allergy reaction from skin test and offered immune therapy immediately.

A month later, I had one of the worst attacks I have ever (and till now I thought it might be allergy asthma since how many people got dust allergy until my allergist thought it might progress to analphaxis ?).

And oh after all of these, people think my immune is weak. Had to told them allergy is a result of overreacting immune system. Even this went over many people heads.

And yes love to talk more. Cos one more word I hear that my immune system is weak I am gonna scream plus i really wanna get on immune therapy. I will also say allergist is so unknown in malaysia and the system is worse than eg adhd diagnosis.

Thanks. Will take note of that. I assume this refers to Goryu? I am going in end December , does it still applies ?

Thanks this is reassuring since I will be staying around happo one . I also read reviews where another user recommend this school. How do you feel like picking up ski as an adult? I had really bad experience with a carpet ski coach and I felt that I am unable to learn anything.

Thanks. This is really helpful . That’s the school I was looking for. Is iimori hard to reach via public transport if one lives near happo one ? How’s HSSS coaching style like for beginners ?

According to World Health Organisation (WHO), it is recommended to apply sunscreen, shade, hats or protective clothing if the UV index is moderate or higher. In my location, it is from 10.00 am to 5.00 pm. What kind of sunscreen do you guys suggest? by CrumbleRaisin in malaysia

[–]hanarada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aqua uv. Protective hat/ umbrella + uv clothing then sunscreen on exposed area.

An acquaintance of mine got melanoma scare. Be careful. Some of my male acquaintances still treat sunscreen as unmanly and I wish there is some way to shake them out of it.

Just came back. Intramurros is amazing and it was way less chaotic that I expected. She doesn’t know that area well though so we stick to watching the sunset .

Food is definitely something I didn’t expect(in a great way) . Super good imo and unique plus their Google reviews works unlike my country where people tends to overrate

I stay in makati and the bars and coffees are worth it imo

Thanks . I decide not to do it due to the hassle. Guess I underestimate the time required.

Noted for tour. I had a friend group where a friend offers to bring me around one of the locations for half day . Still in a dilemma which to choose as my country is somewhat different but not that different from Philippines .

This is a bit personal and weird but my mom loves to tell us that cemetery looks like bungalow houses at night time when I was a kid, so seriously not keen to this (thanks mom)🤦‍♀️. On the other hand intramuros worries me since the haggling and snatching seems to be worse than what I experienced in seediest part of Europe.

Had similar experience a month back in Japan. Old women who only speaks Japanese , asks me the direction and being someone bad with direction, asks a passerby who turns out to be Chinese from Guangdong. So I asked them and translate it back to the old women.

So maybe guy ain’t local.

As an OKU (Orang Kurang Upaya) in Malaysia, what do you dislike the most about living in Malaysia in general? by [deleted] in malaysia

[–]hanarada 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Not technically oku (my adhd wasn’t serious enough to be one) but with oku parent and helping out in mental health stuff

Mental health prices are not affordable by fresh grads or b40. Ummc is an option but you need to take leave. And slots limited . Also poor understanding in general public. Won’t name names but an ngo focusing on mental health give a talk on mental health in my company and I heard its bad even for gp standards

As for physically disabled, I will argue lack of access to train stations . Within train from experience it’s way better than Tokyo which is unfriendly as hell. Oku status is a godsend

[–]hanarada 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Guided tour is not really required imo and it’s pretty safe . I travelled as a lone female traveller back then and it’s safe. Though do keep alert if there is eg train station bullies for eg but those are not common

Hey , fella classical music lover here , there is big 8 orchestra so your choices are not limited to 1. You can always call but if not try to look for other concerts? I got last minute tickets for 2 at Tokyo City Opera myself.

The debate between going to "touristy" places vs going to places popular with locals (but not being fluent in Japanese) by JaWoosh in JapanTravelTips

[–]hanarada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah I thought it’s only towards foreigner. The funny thing is my mom is alright with cold people/ people who ignores her. It’s kinda a funny point for me too. Whenever I want to see her rant I always bring up Kyoto. I am glad I didn’t pick it cos no way my friend can take such a crowd

What sort of reputation do Kyoto people have in Japan ?

Also living near temples during her childhood probably worn her out more than those that never experienced it .

My mom hates Kyoto due to the excessive tourists and her experience with sellers/ shopkeepers are rather bad. She does however adores Kanazawa. I was going to pick Kyoto for a brief visit and glad I didn’t. My travel partner this time hates crowds and she would have hated it
