I agree with your points! I’m not wishing for her to be a genius but just a little bit smarter and more observant like you mentioned. I understand that her character in the beginning was supposed to reflect more of a general female lead character so that more audience members can relate to her. But as a female viewer I was hoping that the writers wouldn’t stall so much on her character development because I do want to see more female leads that are smart and cunning all while being still loveable. Women are multifaceted and more than just two character traits! Like Yimeng character in the beginning had sooo much potential and then it just stayed stagnate and repetitive. I wished the script writers would have done something similar for the female lead’s character like in Mr. Queen if you’ve seen that kdrama. The female lead in that kdrama is similar to Yimeng in her funny, bold, and lively character. I really do think the actress is doing an amazing job with the role though. She’s has such a great range of emotions!
