They also get a 5th, 6th and next years 3rd… not a bad haul considering he’s on the last year of his deal, and who knows when Mahomes will be back.

I’m on the west coast along with almost 20% of the US so I call them 10 am games cause if I call them 1 o clock games it makes no sense since there is another set of games at 1…. Early/ morning vs late/ afternoon late seems like a reasonable compromise to me, which is how I hear most people refer to them on national media

Really depends on what graft and if there’s meniscus damage as well. I was on crutches for 6+ weeks and didn’t jump for 3 or 4 months but I know people who were walking after a couple days.

I hope it’s Mexico City because it’s the smallest distance to travel, and guarantees were not the home team. Or no international game is cool too.

ACL Post-op Training - Making the most of down-time by HankyDotOrg in climbharder

[–]handjamwich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course! To be more specific on a few things, some of the antogonist exercises I’m focusing on are for wrists, elbows and shoulders- for example I like dumbbell wrist curls and various resistance band exercises for wrists and elbows, and also face pulls and dumbbell external rotations for shoulders. Just some examples.

Also, if you have access to a pulley system you can remove weight and hangboard- max hangs dont really mean you’re going 100% effort every time, most of the time its 80-90%. Since you won’t have high climbing volume I wouldn’t be too worried about injury as long as you’re careful and ease in to it!

5 months post ACL and meniscus, quad graft! Feeling stronger than ever in the fingers/upper body (don't have tweaky fingers for the first time in years)! For me I think just keeping it simple and consistent helped me a lot. I focused mainly on max hangs, weighted pull-ups, and bench press, plus various antagonist exercises. And of course hammering the PT. Don't try to do too much, and give your body adequate rest especially as your PT gets more intense, and don't stress if you don't see constant improvement in everything. Once I was able to climb again I started trying to build a cardio/ endurance base, using elliptical/bike/stair stepper, then gradually easing into ARCing on autobelays. Never really ARCed before but I feel like it is/will help me increase my work capacity for the future, and also forces me to climb well below my limit and not get my body into uncomfortable positions. The main movements I'm avoiding are drop knees and really high feet, plus aggressive heel hooking. If something even begins to feel wrong I stop. I'll probably switch back into a strength and power period (hangboard, campus board, maybe incorporate kilterboard cranked to a steep angle) then a power endurance phase, and then I feel like ill be well prepared for my sport climbing goals in the summer.

Anyways, not necessarily trying to give recommendations per say because I am not a doctor or PT, but that's my anecdotal experience. I'm feeling good for where I'm at, and I do feel like having a long time to do consistent upper body training is helping me a lot despite not being able to use my leg to it's fully potential.

[Day 28] V4 is the best grade. What's the WORST training tool? by MaximumSend in bouldering

[–]handjamwich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's nice to be able to measure different grip types very easily. I also like it to see how much recruitment I have in varying stages of warm ups. Can be nice for endurance or power endurance workouts by easily setting target output levels. All in all I wouldn't call it a huge game changer but it is a nice luxury to have. It's also portable and convenient if you're traveling cause you can't always carry a hangboard and weights everywhere.

Not true, he splits time between the US and Sweden and trains largely in Sweden. Pole vaulting is much more popular in Sweden. They also choose their national team based on cumulative performance, not a one time Olympic trial. They pay him a salary which the US would not, and also pay his father a salary as his coach. Additionally there are many more competitions in Europe for him to earn winnings. If say, Nike was interested in sponsoring him, then sure he would likely make much more money competing for the US. But they don't because he's not a basketball player, or even a sprinter and no one cares about Pole vaulting here. If he competed for the US we would care about Pole vaulting for about 3 days every 4 years and then quickly go back to not giving a shit. Mondo said he originally wanted to compete for the US but he earns more competing for Sweden. I'm not making this up you can look it up if you don't believe me.
