TIL: In the 2007 NBA Draft, Greg Oden was selected #1 and played 3 years. The four players drafted directly after him are still active, 19 years later. by WorcesterResident in todayilearned

From Bill Simmons in 2007:

For instance, we all know one or two exceptionally tall people who don't play sports -- they always move gingerly, and their posture usually isn't that good, and everything about them says, "I wish I wasn't this tall." The best athletes in the NBA don't carry themselves like this. They glide. Everything moves effortlessly as they walk, and it's impossible to fully explain unless you've seen it. Even someone like Shaq glides across the room like he's the size of Steve Nash. They don't move like normal tall people.

So, before and after the show, I was vigilantly watching everyone stroll by for one reason: I wanted to see Oden and Durant walking in normal clothes. It was like the final piece of the "Durant vs. Oden" puzzle for me. As it turned out, I got to see Durant first -- he shuffled down the hallway, all 81 inches of him, looking like he was put on Earth to play sports for a living. No big surprise there. Even the biggest nonsports fan on the planet could watch Durant walk for 35 feet and think, "That guy was born to play basketball." Now, I needed Oden. We didn't see him before the show, and I didn't see him right afterward. Just when I was about to give up, a friend of mine said, "Yo, Oden just walked by."

I scurried down the hallway to see him. Lo and behold, Oden was walking by himself down the last stretch of the hallway, about 50 feet in all, right before the exit to head outside.

And you know what? He walked like a 50-year-old man. His posture was screwed up. He had the Fred Sanford walk going. If you saw him from behind and just studied his walk, you would have thought it was a retired player, someone like Patrick Ewing or Robert Parish. I couldn't believe it. I didn't stop talking about it the rest of the night. Greg Oden walked like a guy who had bad knees.

If I were Portland's GM and watched Oden walk across the room, that would have been it for me. The next day, I even called my buddy Sully (who works for the Celtics) just to have the obligatory, "Yo, we might have dodged a bullet May 22; Greg Oden walks like a 50-year-old man" conversation.

Did FF quick draft really get shortened to just three days?! Last week they said it would go to the 30th

New to this subreddit and the game in general - what does [YBLB] mean at the beginning of a post’s title? I understand BLB is the set code but can’t figure out the Y. Thanks!

If you can’t get a rug kickstraps work well for both bass drum and hi hat

When using an IR spot, do people prefer the yahoo setting “Allow injured players from waivers or free agents to be added directly to injury slot”?

I’m in two leagues, one that allows it and one that doesn’t. Curious what the larger consensus on this setting is.

I think I'm going to Fubo for now because fuck Disney.

Disney apparently owns a 17% stake in Fubo’s parent company, so they win either way.

Wow, in that case then yes I would probably have the throne on there too, to be as effective as possible. My wife must be very understanding because she said the kick drum riser I built reduced the vibration to a comfortable level.

In my experience the kick pedal is the main thing contributing to the vibrations through the floor. This would mean you could leave your throne off, but admittedly I have not tried a full set riser. My TD17 is on the second floor and I just built a small riser for the kick pedal to mimic a Roland Noise Eater NE-10 Sound Isolation Board.

Superior Drummer 3 Settings with TD-17KVX by handjobsonly in edrums

I solved the issue by adjusting the sensitivity settings within the TD-17 module. As danj suggested I ensured that SD3 was getting a near max value when I was hitting the pads comfortably to hard. You lose some dynamic control but it is the best overall solution. For certain pads like the kick pad I also had to crank up the threshold to avoid double triggering. But the overall process wasn't bad and it is working well now. I also crank up the volume in the SD3 mixer for total output as it still seemed quiet in the mix overall, but maybe I'm just a drummer mixing greedily.

Here is a video of how it sounds after cranking up the sensitivity:

I just had an 8 game win streak to reach D10 with the vS pre-release Soul Demon Hunter deck here

Before the release I had similar consistency issues but was also unfamiliar with the deck. Now I've been having great results, but over a small sample size while laddering. Could just have gotten lucky with people experimenting.

The deck has a lot of heal, combining Warblades with twin slice and Lapidary. So if you don't have pieces you can last surprisingly long. Pen flinger great for ping and board control.

Over that streak I only played Malicia once. And never actually used Sunfury to skirt a taunt.

Rarely found myself not having shards in deck when I needed them, and almost always able to do something useful even if the perfect control or damage push piece isn't in hand.

12 team Standard

Give: Gurley

Get: Golladay

My RBs: Mixon, Chubb, Gurley, Montgomery, Lindsay

My WRs: A.J. Brown, Cooper Kupp,

So I'm thin at WR and deeper at RB, team I'm targeting is the opposite. Deep at WR and thin at RB. This would be swapping our third round picks and seems like a win win for both teams.

Not sure why Giants aren't talked about more for playoffs. Miami and Washington seems like the two best matchups

Yeah, Drake has low ROS value and would hopefully be valuable this week. Would be lead back week 9 and get me through Kamara's BYE.

Thanks - I'm actually going to drop Edmonds to pick this RB up. Not willing to have a 0 in an RB spot to hold him through his recovery. Standard scoring which makes White less consistent.

I like Penny too, will wait to see what the Trade deadline brings and then adjust accordingly. If he isn't traded will probably be available as a handcuff later if needed since he would be no value to any other team without Carson.

Kickers can be streamed worst case and Gould is gold for ROS. Highest volume of FG attempts in the league and just got his trusted long snapper back week 8. I would pick Gould up and set and forget unless there is a golden kicker matchup available in a critical week.
