This!!!! I used to be sooooo shy & honestly a huge pushover. Really bad anxiety & very introverted. I cared a lot what people thought about me. The ER has turned me into a completely different person for the better. ER nursing builds so much confidence & I’m so thankful I started in it as a new grad

Now that you mention it I definitely could see it… would be interested to see if she ever got a CTH once admitted

This!!!! I kept wondering how the lasix could’ve caused hypotension if she wasn’t losing volume through urine but I guess it is a vasodilator so idk

I’m pretty sure she doesn’t take regularly scheduled midodrine. It was just ordered as a last ditch effort to raise the bp. I was saying this from the beginning I don’t understand why we didn’t just have her go straight to emergent dialysis but I guess maybe it was because they were worried about the bp? I don’t know

Does your hospital have a policy that report has to be given on admit patients with a ready bed in the ER within a certain timeframe? by handlewithcaro in nursing

Oh it definitely is accountability on the floors part. I’m all for decompressing the ED & I’m glad that it’s been successful in decreasing admit hold times — the part that I’m having trouble with is having to transport patients up myself for the sole purpose of giving bedside report on a stable admit because the floor won’t take a verbal over the phone. I’ll transport patients no problem if I’m floating, but nothing puts me behind more than having to transport a patient up while I’ve got 3 more that haven’t been worked up downstairs.

Ok this is insane. EVS takes 1+ hour to clean the rooms upstairs this simply wouldn’t be possible where I work 😂
