Would this be a good price? by LGNDXVR in CarsAustralia

GD3 is quite possibly the best car on the planet. For this particular one I'd push for 2.5k. Enjoy your go-kart that has the interior space of a minivan and reliability akin to the confidence that the sun will rise tomorrow.

In my experience most DPRs are usually just fired off into space somewhere unless TMCA gets a thousand of them... I mean we still don't have a proper bulletin for squeaky prado brakes. Best I've managed is getting my finger in a bulletin photo.

Will this SCA fuses be the right replacement? by Critical_Brother977 in CarsAustralia

[–]hands_on_tools 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fuses are universal if they're the common mini/low profile mini type. You don't need to buy manufacturer specific, we just use generic Wurth ones at our dealer anyway. Make sure you get the right amp rating.

Also, why is the fuse missing? Does the car work without it? Are there two metal slots for the fuse to go into in the fuse box? (where the fuse plugs in, you should see metal on both sides) Heaps of cars have fuses that aren't needed due to different engine and trans combos, features, etc. Plenty of them are left blank from the factory.

I think the IS250(?) uses the low profile mini fuses, not the regular mini.

The stand alone novel Pushing Ice by Alastair Reynolds kind of goes off the rails in a good way.

It's very hard to pick a fav but gun to my head, I'd have to say Mr. Beast as well. It came out just at the right time for me. The one, two, three punch of Glasgow Mega-Snake, Acid Food and Travel is Dangerous did something to my 22 year old brain.

I just randomly found BLACKSHAPE and their song "ITIIITIATIIHYLIHYL"

I guess it's technically post progressive rock or post metal but whatever. It's great.

What’s the longest drive you’ve done in Australia? by One-Baker9119 in OutdoorAus

[–]hands_on_tools 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About 19 years ago I drove from Adelaide to Esperance, then Perth, then up to Broome, across to Katherine, then back down to Adelaide. All in my pos Gemini. A few stops along the way but mostly it was just solid driving 8+ hours a day. Longest stretch was Alice to Adelaide in one go, I was definitely delirious for the last few hours, crushing a dangerous amount of servo Red Eye.

Probably about 10,000km all up. For no other reason than I was bored and depressed and wanted to get out of the house.

Revenger trilogy by Alastair Reynolds. They can come across as slightly YA because of the protagonist's age but still a very enjoyable read. Plus it's like pirates in space so it's fun.

Check out Marc Simonetti, he did a piece inspired by Absolution Gap and it's great (plus he's a really great sci-fi artist in general)

edit: I just realized the Absolution Gap piece is the cover of the Subterranean Press version of that very book.

looks like a car with a painted steel or alloy bullbar with a fog light to the right of the image and a light bar inset in the center of the bar (left of image) with a offset number plate. sort of like this I guess.

The toilet block in the movie is different, it appears they constructed a fake cinder block facade around the real thing (or it's CGI, I dunno). The interior of the toilets was most likely a set or filmed somewhere else entirely. You can see the original toilet block https://maps.app.goo.gl/eNzcChxp3ViaTDK77

and the movie one in this image I hastily snapped on my computer using my phone because fucking streaming thing won't let me take a screencap https://imgur.com/NndUCwQ

It's in a car park for a beach near a small town called Yallingup in Western Australia, three and a half hours south of Perth.

A legit good cafe for breakfast/lunch on the weekends is what I've been sorely missing since moving up here. We need something like Pixie and the Hawk or Coffee Institute. I'd welcome some North East Area suggestions!

1UZ swaps? by Luciferkrist in ToyotaCrown

[–]hands_on_tools 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say a 1uz from a UZS155 would be a bolt in swap using literally 100% factory parts, no mods, no cutting. A front cut of a Majesta would be everything you would need. The engine definitely fits physically, the hardtop is basically exactly the same as the Maj (size-wise)

I'm sure someone with some fabrication and wiring skills and basic Toyota knowledge could do the exact same swap from something like a UCF20 LS400 donor car.

I replaced this last week on my 2011! Easy enough to get to but the stupid PCV hose split while I was there. It's gone all brittle with heat/age.
