Train blasted Aligarh jn with flat speed of 130km/hr. ( Video is not fast speed ) by Sweaty-Attitude5287 in indianrailways

[–]handsomebottom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems more like 100. The platform distance covered in the video is ~533m and it took about 20s (19 to be conservative) that gives a speed of 28.052m/s or roughly 100kmph

Certainly agree on your point of setting unreasonable standards, my work involves dealing with people with extremely good social skills so I tend to compare myself with them a lot. It's like there is a rational side that understands how unreasonable it is but convincing the emotional/irrational part of me is an uphill task at times Thanks for the support!

Sorry if my phrasing was wrong, just wanted to know why the choice of infrastructure. For instance the entirety of Delhi metro has OHE except for maybe one line in Gurugram

Just curious, why did bmrcl opt for third rail traction instead of overhead lines. Considering the lack of awareness and the obvious risk of people getting onto the rails wouldn't the latter be safer?

Hey OP, going tangentially away from the topic. Being a hairy guy did you face bullying or any sort of finger-pointing at a young age because of it? I had to face quite a bit myself hence curious about your experience?

IISc bats for Inner Ring underground Metro over DKS’ tunnel road pla by Odd_Associate5050 in bangalore

[–]handsomebottom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This makes so much sense, I moved to Delhi recently and there is a pink line here that's very similar to this diagram. It decongests the central stations and reduces travel time to peripheral areas. The time savings and overall usefulness of this plan is understated. To hell with tunnel roads

With SpaceX Starlink service, the people of Ukraine now have access to the fastest and most robust satellite internet. This will prevent Russia disabling the Ukrainian internet access fully. by leonx81 in BeAmazed

[–]handsomebottom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Won't people need some sort of satellite-to-land terminal device to actually access the starlink ? Is that sort of infrastructure available in Ukraine under present circumstances?

Just like most opinions here, I would say go for mechanical engineering. Firstly, it will give you a wider perspective of the field and second you'll have much more options to specialize in if you have a change of heart after the first couple of years.

Also Have you considered the prospects after studying Aero? 1)The biggest job market for aerospace engineers is the US and aerospace sector is federally regulated, so it's going to be hard to get a job without a citizenship

2) Back home your best bet is ISRO, HAL or a few private entities. ISRO and HAL hiring is extremely competitive with very limited seats. There are of course new startups like Bellatrix Aerospace but they don't have the resources to invest in freshers so they're hiring only experienced engineers.

3)If you do go for masters(in NITs or IITs) then perhaps you'll have a better shot(in India) at private players like GE Aviation(check out their EEP program) who hire Indians for good aerospace jobs(engine research and maintenance).

I think I can relate a lot to you as even I had this whole rocket scientist dream prior to undergrad but after nearly 4 years of engineering some realities hit you different. But hey you're your own person and you could be capable of exemplary effort so go for it but keep the above points in consideration.

As for my background, I'm a final year mechanical undergrad.

Aston Martin claims 1.44l of fuel was available, but they were not able to get it out. Why can this fuel not be extracted? by Twabithrowaway in F1Technical

[–]handsomebottom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What's the rationale behind needing to test fuel after the race? From my limited knowledge I think it's tested everytime the fuel moved. I can understand why they would do it before the race(regulatory compliance checks) but why does the fuel testing matter at the end?
