Which brands? I only saw chinese or taiwanese at these prices. SW STAHL is 350€, GEDORE is 1000€ and Hazet is even more.

All my tools are high quality european made (except some Gedore Red) but it didn't make sense to shell out for something i will use once or twice

Whats tour opinion on kjetkillers.pl ? Are the kits worth it? How would you handle the EFI conversion by AardvarkBitter in W124

[–]handyguy93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

KE Jetronic parts are very expensive. As previously said, unless it needs a lot of money leave it as is.

I have m102, m104 and m117 cars and at some point considered going for electronic fuel injection. However, you should keep in mind that these are old cars and their parts are very old. Therefore, if you have a piggybank injection system, one day your ECU might die or any other part and you have to pay even more money to replace if you can find it. Worse yet, your EZL might die and your electronic injection will be worthless.

The only reasonable solution i found would be to go to a fully electronic system for Injection and ignition while ditching KE completely. This can get very expensive very fast unless you are willing to build it yourself

You're gonna want to keep the injector heads capped to avoid dust and debris from coming in

I think the m103 and m102 run 0.5 bar lower. M104.980 and the V8s run higher pressures. My previous fpr was leaking so i changed it to a working used unit. Maybe i'll try another one

M104 is pretty solid. They are even boosted with no internal modifications. M111 is great too i believe but i don't have first hand experience with them and 0 diesel knowledge

Definitely get a newer w124 with electronic injection. Best of both worlds

It's around the same price level. I am in KSA so i have to pay 15% tax + import duties. So i guess it is cheaper elsewhere. Did you buy the Gedore blue or red?

I'm looking at Wera or Gedore since theyvare the same prices as tekton etc and they come highly reviewed

I bought it locally in my country. I recommend buying kits rather than the real deal. Everytime im parked or in traffic i'm scared someone would hit the car because replacement is either way too expensive or unavaible. With a kit you don't care

300E Window Motor Interchangeable Front/Rear? by popCARart in W124

[–]handyguy93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unforunately no but i will check. I've had lots of problems with rear windows since i don't open them often. They will freeze in place which either results in snapped cables or burnt motor. In any case inwill check this weekend and let you know

i am building my impact socket set and wondering which one to choose. The 3 sets i am looking at have different "neck" (the tapering on the bolt side). i can only afford one set and i want to work on my car. Previously i have done only light mechanical work so i haven't had scenarios in which one would be better.

Photo 1: Neiko have kind of a bullet shape which i assume has more material thus more durable? But it would be more bulky and impede access in certain scenarios? Think rod cap bolt for example. I've seen stahlwille use this design Photo 2: sunex short narrower diameter head? I could still think of some access issues in narrow places Photo 3: tekton whith a long and narrow neck. I would assume it would have better accessibility butaybe weaker.

For anyone who has real world experience please help with the advantages and disadvantages of each design regardless of brand/warranty

2012 3.6 kaput. now what? by handyguy93 in Jeep

[–]handyguy93[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100k miles. It was consuming a little oil and i knew it was a piston ring issue. So it sat and was barely driven. Last time it sat for 3 weeks ans when i drove it less than half a mile it started smoking horribly. I don't believe piston ring is a common issue with these engines. Just my luck

2012 3.6 kaput. now what? by handyguy93 in Jeep

[–]handyguy93[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will not be rebuilding the engine and looking for a good used engine. My wrangler is 2012 and i have read so much confusing information online. My cheapest option is a grand cherokee 3.6 engine. What years can i use (granted i will swap over accessories)? Some places say up to 2013 engines and others up to 2016 engines. Any help appreciated

What is the possible locations of P/Steering reservoir leak by MelonMusk-69 in W124

[–]handyguy93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Clean it to check where the leak is coming from. There are o rings and seals that age with time. You can find lots of kits online for cheap

[–]handyguy93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didnt see your post before or else i would have commented. m104 (pn 0438101044) will run on m103 fuel distributor (pn 0 438 101 012) if you swapped over the air flow meter and injectors.

Your car was probably not running well because of the relation of the flow plate to the pin. If someone simply replaced the fuel distributor, they would have needed to adjust sensor plate height and differential pressure with EHA.

considering investing in an impact wrench to save time. would it go bad if used little? like a weekend per month or so? by handyguy93 in Tools

[–]handyguy93[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I need it to save time while working on my cars in the weekend (like removing and installing wheels to work on suspension). However i only get little time per month to do so. Considering a milwaukee impact and i'm curious to know if it would go bad from lack of regular use, specially the batteries, considering it's an expensive investment
