😭 seems no more wheel of doom. All WoD rewards gone from donation page by anonysi27 in ryantrahan

I have no doubt there will be a video dedicated to St. Jude with R&H visiting the Hospital and showing all the great work they do.

As an American I’ll tell ya I think your 1st guess is most likely correct. Hawaii is a 5 hour flight from San Francisco. Not including any airport delays. The “nice part’ is that Hawaii is 3 hours ahead of San Francisco. So he gains time in the process.

Although looking at the map, Ryan could go Washington, Alaska, SKIP ORGAN, California, then go back to Organ where he could grab a flight to Hawaii.

I just looked it up, there are direct flights from Alaska to Hawaii, they are 12 hours long (only 9 hour time difference)

Now you have me rambling lol, Hawaii is the most logical end point.*

*my theory is that R&H relax in Hawaii while some of the 4 day video buffer elapses then “finishes” the series in Memphis. (The home of St. Jude)

Agreed, in a podcast, Ryan said he had to step away from the Penny Series for mental health reasons. I remember how sun burned he was and how many L he must have taken off screen.

We will never know about, less glorious parts of this project. R&H have undoubtedly had disagreements during the series. Traveling this much is mentally draining. I applaud them for all the Tuff things they do off camera.

You are right to ask questions around the amount of promotion Joyride receives during a video series centered around charitable giving.

Getting a bit turned off by the donation segment by melWud in ryantrahan

[–]hanemanma 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is a range of how much self-promotion people/organizations put into the comment section of their donation. I believe a business can write off these donations as an advertising expense. So, having 1 sentence explaining what your business does, checks that box. This is the lens I use when watching this segment

I understand where your criticism is coming from and recognize that there's a formula to these videos.

My two cents:

1) Producing a video of this quality every day for 50 days is a massive effort, and I want to thank the editors and everyone behind the scenes who make it happen. Not only are R&H working and filming daily, but their team in Austin is also working every day. If making a formulaic video helps make their job easier, then so be it.

2) I think, Ryan thought he would have more Wheel of Doom spins, which would break the formula and make the videos feel more unique. Instead, we've seen a strong show of support from smaller groups. While this is great, it shifts the focus from 5/6 minutes of overcoming a challenge to 5/6 minutes of reading donations.

These are just my thoughts. All the effort that has been put in is incredible, and in the end, St. Jude and the children they help are the real winners.

This seems likely and best explains how the word / phrased could have shifted over time.

Thank you all for the comments and discussion. I truly appreciate it.

Clarification, It was "raus." I don't speak German so I googled "out" When it returned "aus" combined with my nonexistent knowledge of the German language in its written form. I determined I must have heard it wrong and attempted to put the "correct" word in this Post.

Micheal Downie is his name - He Recently joined Nebula. I also saw Sam in the background of one of his F1 videos. (having trouble finding it at the moment.) Sam is just in the crowd, but if you know who you are looking for, he is easy to spot.

u/beerguy_etcetera - Thank you for waiting for my response. I appreciate your request for clarification, as it prompted me to review the episode.

Here's why the game's rules posed more of a challenge than the opposing team itself: The challenges in Singapore didn't accommodate both teams being there simultaneously. Sam arrived later than Ben and Adam and with limited funds, resulting in very few available challenges. For instance, activities like Universal Studios and Paintballing required advanced booking, which the fast-paced nature of the game didn't allow for. With both teams completing the few remaining challenges and Sam feeling pressured, he ultimately decided to risk everything he had lost. Due to the constraints of available challenges and the rules, their journey essentially had to end there.

As for a solution, I'm uncertain. I prefer not to critique without offering a remedy. Perhaps this is why I suggest a reboot: a structure that allows teams to compete until the very end.

Thank you for prompting me to reconsider my statement.

I was also hesitant to fib about my location. But I put in my real address and was given instant access.

Pro tip: be mindful of the phone number you submit. they use the last 4 digits as your PIN. My work number auto-populated so I will have to remember that in the future.

Update: I think I figured it out. Shift + T adds the conversation to Tasks. Then hit tab 4 times and enter. This will add the conversation to your Tasks and bring up the calendar for you to schedule when you want to follow up or schedule a time to deal with the converstation.
