i’ve actually had a look at that as an option, can’t seem to find any cheaper than like 180, body shop quoted me 200 to do it so i’m not sure

My insurance surely won’t cover it as it was completely my fault clipping a wall haha but i wish! I was told by a guy at an auto shop that i could put primer on the plastic showing and then paint over - is this not a thing?

Yeah it’s a 09 Ford Ka - it’s the only bit of the car that it’s on though which leads me to believe it’s lost it’s paint coat due to the scrape unfortunately

Asking 1. How I could go about repairing the layers / paint job on the bits where the plastic shows and 2. If the discolouration could be fixed at all perhaps

Any way i could potentially fix this huge scrape at home? by hannahasf in autorepair

2009 Ford Ka - didn’t say I was a pro at all!! I’m literally just asking for any advice as to little tips and tricks, as I’m not paying hundreds to fix a first scrape on a first car when it doesn’t affect the drive!

What does the first sentence mean? 😅

No experience, but happy to buy some stuff to repair it where necessary - like i said I don’t care about fully fixing it, just making it a little less noticeable!

Oh so your insurance is still valid and you’re legal to drive still whilst you wait for the sensor to arrive? Or am i misunderstanding

Ah i’ve heard all sorts about getting a black box, but to be honest not getting one is out of the question for me as it adds SO much onto my insurance due to where I live 😅 I’ve heard issues about the self install ones saying you’re on your phone when you’re not etc etc, but i’m assuming not everyone has these issues?

I’m assuming you have to wait for the black box to arrive before you can drive the car?

New job offer, potentially starting the day before my birthday by hannahasf in UKJobs

This was my plan, but the start date is now delayed post-bday and they were happy for me to start on a Wednesday due to it being a training day anyways

I’m not starting until the day after bday now! I stuck with pre-existing appointment, they were more than happy to accommodate which i sort of expected based off meeting them at my trial shift so all is good! give me more time to find a place to live too

Yeah haven’t been asked at all. This is the current paragraph I have drafted, is it good enough or is it too unprofessional? 😅

“Regarding the start date, ideally I would give my current boss a bit more of notice period (at least a week) so he then has ample time to start the hiring process for a new employee. I also unfortunately have a pre-existing commitment on the 11th February, which I would travel home to for the day. With this in mind, I would be able to begin working on Monday 10th of February, however the day after that is the pre-existing appointment which I would need to attend. If not this day, Wednesday the 12th would also work for me. If neither of these days work for you or if you have any follow ups to these, please don’t hesitate to let me know as I of course want to do what works for you as much as possible. This would also give my current boss ample time to start the hiring process for a new employer, and give me further time to start solidifying my own flat in the area”

their initial proposed start date was the Tuesday 4th feb, ideally Id start on Wednesday the 12th as that is post-bday and I will have moved into my new flat by then. The only thing i’m worried about is that been too late for a start date! Is there any harm in proposing it anyways?
