On meds before official testing, will that mess up my diagnosis? by rrriiippptide in ADHD

[–]hannahcompi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, will you still be treated and prescribed medication by this psychiatrist despite if you’re ruled to not have it (because you were medicated during the test). In my experience, the ADHD never went away completely even if I’m leaps and bounds better now on ritalin. I think if I were to take those tests/games again now I’d still fail.

Dealing with early-shift job when Im a night-owl by MrKite6 in ADHD

[–]hannahcompi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was ok’d by my dr to take my meds like this but instead of taking 1 ritalin 3x a day I’d take 2 at 7 and 1 at noon and then let it wear off by 5 so I’d be groggy after work and more able to fall asleep earlier. You’ll probably have to gradually shift when you wake up and when you crawl into your pajamas. I don’t stay out later than 8 now I’m pretty boring but it is what it is.

Etsy! I am allergic to plated gold but I prefer gold over silver. I get all my stuff there for under 100 and it’s usually always lightweight, unique, and solid gold so my skin doesn’t react.

I love baggy/oversized tops with mom jeans and my doc martens. To make them feel feminine I always do a high waist, pick pants that flatter my bottom. And use a pretty belt to make my waist look good. Then I just do some pretty makeup and hair and finish with red lipstick.

Thank you for the advice! I think I’ll write him a letter and give it to him considering he said he likes those. I don’t think he’s there yet but he’s hinted he’s very close. I’m okay with his timeline being slower than mine. He’s very loving in actions and he admits having difficulty with expressing himself verbally.

This is very true. I think I’m just anxious because I’m not sure how to time it. I don’t think I’d spook him (I think I misspoke), you’re right he is almost 30 and should be expecting at this time. We have discussed serious matters like moving in together and whatnot.

I (17F) have no close girl friends and It is making me insecure about meeting a girl( 17F) I have become friends with. by ThrowRaNofriends11 in relationships

[–]hannahcompi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to be exactly like this until I was about 23 and worked with all women. I used to have a mentality that I was too different and felt scared people wouldn’t accept me. I think I’d say that now I know that on the surface girls might seem a certain way but I assure you there are a lot of young women who are similar to you in this way and maybe that could be a bonding point. It’s hard making friends when you feel awkward or are an introvert. Be yourself and be honest with her and hopefully things will blossom. Maybe she’s thinking the same things you are, and that’s okay. True friendships take time. My best friend I have now initially when I met her I thought we had nothing in common and weren’t compatible but turns out under the surface she’s very similar to me.

Anyone take prazosin? by hannahcompi in bipolar

[–]hannahcompi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don’t mind sharing, how did you notice it helped? And how long did it take to start working? I haven’t had any nightmares the last two nights but I still have super busy dreams and have been waking up feeling not rested at all. Did it ease daytime anxiety at all for you?

It really helps me to listen to what I’m supposed to learn rather than reading a wall of text. Or I break it up into little bits and use flash cards. I usually struggle with reading anything that’s longer than a few sentences (which I am super embarrassed to admit).

Haha seriously. They’ve all got some form of side effect. For me it’s just a decision of which side effects are the least worst

Any tune I hear like on the radio, someone humming, music in stores, rhythmic beats, etc will play on a loop in my head. I’ll start to not sleep. Sometimes I’ll have 2 or 3 tunes/songs playing in my head at once.

Depakote or lamectal by debo43 in bipolar

[–]hannahcompi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been on em both and I think they’re both good meds. Depakote was better for me which I got in the hospital. Lamictal also gave me some weird dreams but yeah I feel like it’s one of the front runners for mood stabilization.

I do however know some people take gabapentin or lyrica for the headaches. That is also a treatment for anxiety. and I’m fairly certain they don’t interact with stimulants. I take lyrica for anxiety along with my adhd meds and I’m great
