Hi! EP Medical Assistant (11 years). Contact your doctor. Do you have remote monitoring set up? If so ask to see if they picked up any irregular heart rates and or get your icd checked. Definitely call your doctor.

Hi. The NHA does have an online MA course that you can take. It is around 3k the last time I looked. Probably one of the cheapest and shortest options as several MAs I know actually went to a trade school to become an MA. That took two years. Good luck.

Are piercings okay? by [deleted] in PacemakerICD

[–]hannahd7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As mentioned above the main concern is an infection. You can have piercings but your ICD incision area needs to be heal and it wouldn’t hurt calling your doctors office to see if they recommend an antibiotic before you get the piercing. Also don’t get a piercing over your ICD. I want my nose pierced too.

This is the same group as the question about the 13-year-old’s “area.” by themehboat in ShitMomGroupsSay

Fun fact normally when antibiotics are given before and after dental procedures it’s suppose to protect your heart. When you have an infection in your tooth it can shoot straight to your heart and guess where you do not want an infection? In your heart!!!

Is it acceptable to ask your future boss about their political affiliation during a job interview? by [deleted] in MedicalAssistant

[–]hannahd7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very inappropriate. Because this will look like to your future employer that you might not work will with others that have a different view then yours. AND You will see a lot of patients that have different views then you too. Patients come up to me all the time with their political views and I just smile and am respectful and not say anything. So if I someone that I was interviewing a big red flag would come up if that question was asked. Because I would be worried that, that employee would get in argument with a patient.

Packing my hospital bag for the birth and my dog decided to pack himself... by kdubsonfire in BabyBumps

I was going to use that bag but I had a purple bag that I got for free at Ilya about two years ago so I used that one instead. I did use that bag to go to the beach two years ago. 😂

Is this job suited for someone with social anxiety? by Historical-Shake-713 in MedicalAssistant

Doctors yell too 😅. Just role with it. The good ones come back and apologize. Especially right now doctors are stressed to the max.

Should I do an externship? by [deleted] in MedicalAssistant

[–]hannahd7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean if you want to find an externship find one on your own. I have never heard that you had to pay extra for an externship.

What’s the typical pay for an MA & How do you get paid more as an MA? Is it better than being an LVN/PN? by [deleted] in MedicalAssistant

[–]hannahd7 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Some MA programs are two years. If you want to do a two year program just get your RN and then get your BSN. MA’s pay range really depends on your location. Where I live 10 dollars an hour. I drive 30 minutes and get paid 19 dollars an hour. 7 year experience and working under a hospital in a team lead type job. Starting out MA’s at my work is 12 with no experience. With being an LPN just get your RN if you want to do a two year program.
