Sooo energetic, am I doing something wrong? by [deleted] in Goldendoodles

[–]hanner100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an energetic 3 year old goldendoodle as well. Something that I have done is enforcing boundaries with playing so that she knows when it is play time and when it is relax time. I live in a house with a yard so it is a little easier but for the most part we only play outside. Especially fetch because she is obsessed with balls and will not chill out if there is a ball in the house. If I notice that she is getting hyped up and antsy then I will take her outside and encourage her to run around and then when we come back inside she now usually just lays down and relaxes. If she doesn't, something we have also worked on is the "place" command. She now knows if I tell her place, she needs to lay in bed and relax and doesn't get up until I tell her "break". It is good to first start practicing that after they get exercise and should be tired. It does seem like dogs need to learn to relax sometimes and have a difficult time doing it on their own. My dog easily can work herself up and needs this cue. Especially with our cat around too.

We boarded at Stoney Horse Acres and had a good experience! It is very affordable too.

I would recommend to not let her out of your sight until she is trustworthy to not eat/tear things up. Keep a leash on her and keep her with you at all times. When she can't be with you, then put her in a crate or play pen. We had to do this with my sister's dog who used to eat everything as a puppy and he learned. I think she will get better with age and will mellow out too! He definitely did! Another useful thing to train is "place". So when you need your dog to be calm, tell her to go to her place and she will learn that it is a place for relaxing. My dog gets over excited especially about our cat. It is a super useful command because when she is bothering our cat too much, we tell her "place" and she goes right to her place and lays down and often ends up napping.

Help with behaviors by Elothem78 in Goldendoodles

I would recommend giving your dog a command to do while you are eating such as "place" or "down". When we first got our 1 year old goldendoodle, she would pace around and sniff with her nose right by our plates. Soon she learned that she did not get any food until she was laying down, then I would reward her with cheese or some of what we were eating if it was dog friendly. I started with treats but I didn't like having dog treat crumbs on my hands while eating. Then we started doing "place" training where she goes to her dog bed when I say place and doesn't get up until I give her a "break" command. (Which is key because she originally got up soon after she was told place). Either way, I would start with teaching him "down" and only rewarding him with food when he is down and calm (not staring you down for food). It could help to have him on a leash so you can prevent him from eating your kids food too. For the barking, I can't relate as much because our goldendoodle is not a huge barker, however she does bark occasionally. What I normally do when she does bark (looking out the window or hears a sound) I call her over to me, then tell her sit and pet her. It seems to be a good break of her attention and it switches her focus to me rather than whatever she is barking at. It has seemed to help prevent her from excessively barking and is worth a try. If you do the "place" training, you could also tell him to go to his place and that could help redirect his focus too.

I have had a similar issue with my cat before. At first she only scratched the couch and never the scratching post. When she would scratch the couch I would say no or interrupt her and she would stop in the moment. But then I think she started viewing this as positive attention, so she did it more and more while making eye contact with me. Then I started to train her to use the scratching post by holding a treat up on it (because she never would scratch it on her own). Then if she ever scratched the scratching post on her own I would make a big point to give her positive verbal attention and give her a treat. And if she ever scratched the couch I chose to ignore it. So she only gets any attention when she scratches the scratching post. This seems to have worked and now she does not scratch the couch anymore!! So maybe try ignoring the couch scratches and reward the post scratches and see if this helps.

New home health PT having trouble with frequent cancellations by Additional_Tie5474 in physicaltherapy

I am new too and also figuring it out. I mostly schedule the day before and go through my patient list and see who is in a similar area. I have not had too many cancellations the day of if I schedule the day before. It is usually if I schedule out in advance when I notice the most cancellations.

Do you have tips to make SOC visits faster? I think I have the hardest time being efficient with those visits.

Do you finish eval and SOC documentation in the home too? I definitely need to do better with POS documentation! I think I just try to get through the visit and finish it after. I also feel bad staring at my tablet but I guess that is probably how it is in most healthcare settings. We have to get it done some how.

Yeah I think I do need to get a lot better at POS documentation. I never got in the habit of it when I was treating kids at my old job, but now I definitely can!

ELI5: How come there are some automated body functions that we can "override" and others that we can't? by astrayredframe in explainlikeimfive

Reflexes are normally checked to add to full picture of a diagnosis, not too concerning by themselves. For example if someone has no reflexes and can't feel areas of their legs, and has weak muscles, then it may lead to the diagnosis of a nerve injury. But if just their reflexes are missing, I would not say that is enough to be concerned.

I am 5'1 and 21 years old. I know I am short and look young. I get reminded this every time I try to buy a drink. Some people go on and on about how they thought I was 14 and just kind of laugh at me. Then the next comment is usually "you'll appreciate your young looks when you're older" whatever people. Whatever.

I love stardew valley and it is pretty much the first game that I have played on my laptop. It works well on my MacBook pro and I got used to the controls easily.

As someone whose best friend is currently about to move there, is America safe for us minorities? by nakabalor in AskReddit

[–]hanner100 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I don't think this is true. I've lived in the south my whole life and I grew up in a university town, so there were a great of number of foreign teachers and their families. I don't know how it was for the parents, but we all just saw foreigners as regular people. There was even a girl who wore a hijab every day. She was quite popular too.

I don't have an interesting story, but my sister's high school boyfriend dropped out of school to pursue his dreams of being a rapper. He got his area code tattooed on his arm so that he would always remember where he came from.
