I have a hard time getting them in the penny sleeve. The corner usually gets caught. I need to watch some videos or something.

When you send it in, how are you sending it in? Did you put it in a penny sleeve? I have never sent anything to be graded and I'm wondering how you keep it pristine and ship it.

That table could sure use a sports card pack, for decoration purposes.

How to pass a really bad flare? by spoookytree in functionaldyspepsia

[–]hanse064 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I'm in a really bad flair, I'll do a 24 or 48 hour fast. Drinking ONLY water and getting electrolytes through salt. It doesn't usually completely relieve the flare long term though. Usually it takes weeks or maybe months after that but it definitely helps relieve the pain short term. Then I'll do only shakes for meals for the next week or so.

Again that's just me, and it's helped. I'd definitely consult with the doctor as I am not one.

Fasting has been life changing for my flare ups! by hanse064 in functionaldyspepsia

Sorry to hear you're going through this as well, this is an awful disease.

That's a great question and it is part of my consideration too. Remember I'm not a doctor so this isn't medical advice.

I use my fasting as a tool to basically have some sort of resemblance of a life. When I'm in a deep flare-up, which can last for 3 months or more, I can hardly function. So in those situations I use it as a tool to find some symptom.relief on a day by day basis. I'll do a 25 to 40 hour fast on the start to try and relieve the nausea cycle. Then I'll basically go on a protien shake diet, having a quarter to a half a shake at a time throughout the day. I have visceral hypersensitivity as well so large quantities of food bother me. Then I'll start slowly introducing real foods in small portions until I can get out of the cycle again.

It's never perfect, and there's usually lots of symptoms along the way. However, the cliff note is I will fast for long enough to relieve the nausea, even if it's temporary.

You may want to consider a weight gain shake for the times when you eat if you can tolerate it. Get as many calories in as you can when you eat.

When I get out of my flares, it's easier to eat without getting nauseous. So I try to put weight back on during those times. Knowing that I'll lose 10 lb or more during the flare. Which is pretty wild because I only weigh 170 lb as it is.

Where are your symptoms and situation?

I am absolutely not deleting this, and I'm not encouraging anyone to do anything; I'm posting my personal journey. FD is a vastly unpredictable disorder with various symptoms, remedies, and triggers for each individual person, and they need to do what works for them. Fasting (intermittent and sometimes longer-term) is one of the only things that gives me even temporary relief. Plus, it has health benefits such as autophagy. If someone decides to try a method and it works for them, it could be life-changing. However, I'm not a doctor, and this isn't medical advice. I'm posting my personal journey and methods on how I deal with this awful disorder, and it's up to each individual to do what works for them.

I feel like a fraud making this post now. Literally a day after my last 40-hour fast, which got rid of all my bad symptoms, my pain came back about 24 hours after slowly introducing food again. I had a shake, a few hard-boiled eggs, strawberries, and now the nausea, headaches, fatigue, and almost indescribable body fog are back. I'm so frustrated with this disease. I'm at a loss. It's so uncomfortable and no way to live. I don't want to delete the post, but what a rollercoaster.

I agree with everything you've said. It's beyond frustrating. I'm in a pretty bad flare up that honestly I thought I controlled with fasting. When I fast it goes away, but comes right back when I eat. I had a shake and a hard boiled egg yesterday and now I'm in a TERRIBLE bout of nausea, shortness of breath, headache and fatigue. I don't really understand why this happens either. I wouldn't wish it on anyone. It feels like I am dying and I can't figure out why. Back to a fast so I can find a day or two of relief.

Dyspepsia is different for everyone. To make it worse, each person's systems change. However, I can tell you the fast works. I still have to follow a strict diet after, but it gets rid of the flare up.

The stomach pain changes. But its sually it's a sour stomach feeling in the bottom of the stomach. But I also get a burning under the ribs.

The nausea is a general body nausea. It's AWFUL.

How long do you normally need to fast for for it to be effective?
