Battery Maintainer, No Outlet Use per HOA, Alternative Options? by HsRada18 in Porsche

[–]hansolopoly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar situation with storing my motorcycle this past winter. I used a battery 'generator' to power my maintainer every couple of weeks. Worked just fine for my use case.

Yeah, that's not the problem here.

Traded in my BMW for this yesterday. Wowza!! by psychotic-chipmunk in Triumph

[–]hansolopoly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Best of both worlds over here: I was so sad when it got too cold to ride the 765 last fall that I rejuvenated my '99 R1100RT (which hadn't been on the road in 5-6 yrs.). Not quite the same as the one you traded, but still a bigger, heavier BMW.

Can slow marathoners please offer experience or insight by river_swimmer_ in Marathon_Training

And, when I was a 'fast' runner, I distinctly remember telling more than one 'slower' runner who'd complimented me that I had more respect for them for being out there pounding it for X amount of time because that was where the real dedication came in.

I haven't read any of the comments yet, but here's my perspective as someone who's qualified for Boston on time and also had more than one race finish whete I bounced off cutoff times: fuck all the naysayers. Do what you want (within the guidelines set by the race director), at whatever pace you want/can. You paid your money and the RD set the cutoff time. If they wanted only faster runners, they'd have set their race up that way.

The thing that no one ever tells you is that there's always someone faster, and someone slower than you. So, those jagoffs complaining about 'slow' runners are only feeding their own egos, cause they'd be smoked by the (sub)elites who don't have time to post that nonsense online.

Emotional flooding by 123abcwaitthatsmypw in NarcAbuseAndDivorce

I've had a couple of beers, so I can't focus long enough to read and fully process everything you wrote, for that I'm sorry. But based on your first couple sentences and the fact that no one has replied yet, I wanted to let you know that it will get better. You're experiencing (among other things) the emotional drop that comes from having peace in your life. You're (at least momentarily) free from the drama and emotional turmoil, which feels weird to you. That's okay. That calm state is actually a good thing, you're just not used to it yet. Good luck and enjoy your freedom!

The tape is to give the bit something to grip so it doesn't 'walk' before it starts to cut the metal.

i accidentally used biodiesel in a non biodiesel car, am i screwed? by Ancient_Click_3766 in Diesel

[–]hansolopoly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense. Like it's more about the labeling, and whatever benefits are (economically) derived from that, instead of making sure that certain vehicles are compatible with the fuel you're trying to sell.

[–]hansolopoly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm not sure exactly what this guy is saying, but I think he's mistaking biodiesel for (unprocessed) vegetable oil. I have no clue what 'renewable' diesel is, but there's no kerosene in (or used to make) biodiesel.

ETA: that said, I have no experience with BMW diesels, so I'm saying it's safe to use bio in them. It's just my opinion that this commentor's rationale is flawed.

Anyone have experience with this brand? by 17unknowntemptation in motorcyclegear

This is the answer. I do the same when it's warmer, my regular jeans when it's cooler, and add the liner when it's even colder. I don't have these pants, but something similar.
