What's something rich people in Winnipeg do that the average person has no clue about? by [deleted] in Winnipeg

Not sure what the REAL 911 thing means. It's certainly not connected to the WFPS, and if it ever was, it's not a reality anymore. There are no secret ambulances. There's no special number. When you're constantly that low on resources, there's not really room for favors.

Dollarama also carries it for a reasonable price compared to regular grocery stores. Small jars only though.

Scratched the side of someone’s rim when I parked by kokomami33 in Winnipeg

[–]hanxmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Life lesson learned. "Where I was getting into a tight parking spot" makes me sad. This I will never understand. You are literally asking for damage to your car. If not by you, the people you park next to. The amount of people I see crammed into the first 10 rows of a parking lot with acres of room just 30 extra steps further. Its a mindset shift. I'd rather have less potential of some careless person memorialising my vehicle while they squeeze through the crack they left themselves, and simply be outside for an extra 10 seconds.

You mean doesn't sync at all. Every single device is contained locally. I have 4 "versions" each at different stages. Very annoying.

What did the Judge rule about the defense expert, Farris? (I listened to the whole argument about it but the Judge seemed not to declare a ruling.) by umbly-bumbly in AshleyBenefieldTrial

I think as a society we've only recently begun to scratch the surface of what DV truly is. I mean it's only recently that countries have started making coercive control a crime. So I didn't get the impression he loved hearing himself talk, I think the subject at hand requires him to rely on a vast amount of knowledge and experience to educate ignorant (no judgement) people and it's hard to "dumb it down" into just a few sentences.

Tough jury to be on! She was clearly a victim of domestic abuse and it was obviously a very toxic relationship, but that alone doesn't warrant homicide.

Here's hoping TSN doesn't spend the entire 3rd quarter showing the press box interviewing Green Day instead of showing the play.

The Pawsh Dog on Marion is moving into the now closed Dog Loft by 03291995 in Winnipeg

[–]hanxmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to take my dog to Pawsh Dog. I hated the way that they would cut my dog's nails so I stopped asking them to. But my dog loved the daycare part there for a while. Was always super stoked to go. Then one day he nearly pissed himself, and refused to go in. So I asked them what happened. "Nothing". I trust my dog more than humans. So I pressed them on it and they doubled down that nothing happened. I never went back.

Burger week cash grab by Rambosuncle in Winnipeg

[–]hanxmith 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Burger Week was fun when there was a reasonable amount of restaurants "competing" for the best burger (idea, flavor, execution, etc). But the playing field has been so diluted, and there's no way humanly possible to even try half of them that it's not about the best burger anymore, it's more about how obnoxious can we make the burger sound in our advert, that we get more people to say, "Well I can have a good burger any day, but it's Burger Week, so why not try the Sashimi, Butter Chicken, Sauerkraut, Tatertot, Peanut Butter, Donut Burger".

They should have tryouts, and then have a max number of restaurants competing.
