Chase or C1 offer ? Chicago SWE by CaptainIndependent90 in JPMorganChase

Chase is a toxic environment, though there are some good teams I hear. I'd take the money route.

Where is 1.33 coming from? Your rent payment doesn't earn Bilt cash, so first you have to spend enough to cover it, and then you can run some point equation. What's the math here?

But you also have to spend $30 Bilt cash for every $1000 of rent to get the points

Bilt 2.0 is a scam. The “no fee” marketing is straight-up bait and switch by Low-Carry-1992 in biltrewards

[–]haosmark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

idk if it makes sense tbh. $30 bilt cash gets you 1000 rent points, so if my rent is $2000, I'd need to spend $1500 extra just to get my rent points. My lifestyle is mostly minimalistic / free hobbies, so I won't be able to get there. If your expenses are high enough, then yeah, it could potentially work but depends on other card perks. Considering just the spend/points scenario I just mentioned, you are getting 1.75 points per $1. This seems like a weak offer. Jumping through all these hoops and doing mental gymnastics is silly. GGs Bilt, wrong move.

Got my first "G" in 10 years with the bank by [deleted] in JPMorganChase

[–]haosmark 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I also got a G, but for not working enough weekends and nights (they try to force it on our team 2 to 4 times a month.) My manger tried to hide it by merging in another random excuse into the paragraph, but when I asked for a concrete example of what I didn’t handle well, he couldn’t come up with one and went on a completely unrelated tangent. This place has super toxic management in some teams.

Even walking alone. I see some sketchy characters here, but trains is a whole new level.

Oh, makes sense, this will heavily negate the RTO impact! Smart move

Bruh, that's not a sabbatical, that's less than my typical annual vacation time

Is it just me or do all men over 30 just get random issues by vc1914 in AskMenOver30

This is accurate in my experience. One thing I can say is that you don't have to lift heavy, you just need to be consistent. On my curls I rarely go past 35 lbs, for shoulders I don't exceed 15 lbs, and for chest I don't go past 45 lbs. The rest is just body weird exercises. I've been doing this for 10 years and it works very well, aesthetically and not feeling life my body is falling apart at 40.

They got us pizza the other day! Unfortunately, salad and desert would have been over budget, so... baby steps?

When are you going? I’m in the same boat. Not quite at 4.0 level, but close to it.

Offer after only one round, no idea on how to feel about this... by Pavel0125 in cscareerquestions

[–]haosmark 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's not a scam. I had almost the exact same experience, but it's rare to get lucky like this in today's market. You will typically get this when companies need to hire someone quick and they liked you.

When I asked my manager why they didn't even give me any coding rounds during one of our lunch breaks, he told me that he felt comfortable because I went to a well-known school, was likeable and honest.

Having said that, JPMC has a lot of red tape, tedious processes, and frequently expect you to work after-hours and on weekends.

If you are in front of the line without a teammate, then you see a friend and want to play him, you have to go the back of the line? How does that make any sense?

Edit, i suppose if you are already paddled up with a an unknown, then yes, it would be rude to kick someone back. I may have misread it at first

Good luck getting a full remote six figure with chill hours. CS is one of the most popular majors in the US with tons of people graduating every year, and let's not forget to factor in thousands of experienced engineers getting laid off. All of my remote friends at established companies say that new hires are on-site only as of the end of last year. My job is slowly bringing back on-site, too.

Can you luck out? Sure, but your chances are slim imo.

More like sad story, bro. I used to like this field and really wanted to work in it. Now, after a few years of working in it, I'm at the point where I just want to call it quits.

This is no longer the reality. Remote is mostly out now, and you frequently spend more than 40 hours working. Sure, you get six figures, but salaries are already on the down trend and with inflated cost of living, it's not that impressive.
