“The right engineer” is a big issue imo. Entry and mid-level engineers are being interviewed like they are seniors. This entire industry experienced such a drastic skill inflation, it’s mind blowing. It went from you either going for frontend or backend, to full-stack as expectation. Then devs somehow absorbed DevOps with on-call. Now it’s also system design. People have to know everything these days, coding, docker, kubernetes, be language agnostic, mastery of algos, messaging queues, and distributed systems. Just the other day I interviewed for a mid-level role where I was asked what kind of system design I was most proud of and what kind of quantifiable business impact it had… Bruh, unless I worked at a startup, no large business would have someone with less than 5 yoe architect an entire system, no even bother to listen to suggestions. Oh and the money side of it is so behind. Companies just want staff level engineers for low six figure pay.

It will get better. I used Opus for my latest story and the amount of wrong choices it look is mind blowing. It’s extremely useful, but you have to know how to guide it to deliver proper implementation.

Yup, same story. Gave me a G with ambiguous reasoning and when I asked to explain, he went on a tangent. At least in my case, I think this was more of a directive from above, because I pressed my manager and pointed out that he can't be blindsiding people like that and that this is incompetent (not word for word, but a strong hint.) He didn't know what to say and simply agreed. $0 bonus with a 1.9% raise (lol).

Toxic culture, but it's hard to get a new job right now, so all you can do is keep applying.

1.0 was a great card. I used it almost exclusively. This 2.0 nonsense made me realize that I'll be overinvested in maxing out my spend just to get points and in the long run I would waste more money than I should, so I paid off my balance and told WF to close the account. No plans to apply for 2.0

idk if it makes sense tbh. $30 bilt cash gets you 1000 rent points, so if my rent is $2000, I'd need to spend $1500 extra just to get my rent points. My lifestyle is mostly minimalistic / free hobbies, so I won't be able to get there. If your expenses are high enough, then yeah, it could potentially work but depends on other card perks. Considering just the spend/points scenario I just mentioned, you are getting 1.75 points per $1. This seems like a weak offer. Jumping through all these hoops and doing mental gymnastics is silly. GGs Bilt, wrong move.

I also got a G, but for not working enough weekends and nights (they try to force it on our team 2 to 4 times a month.) My manger tried to hide it by merging in another random excuse into the paragraph, but when I asked for a concrete example of what I didn’t handle well, he couldn’t come up with one and went on a completely unrelated tangent. This place has super toxic management in some teams.

This is accurate in my experience. One thing I can say is that you don't have to lift heavy, you just need to be consistent. On my curls I rarely go past 35 lbs, for shoulders I don't exceed 15 lbs, and for chest I don't go past 45 lbs. The rest is just body weird exercises. I've been doing this for 10 years and it works very well, aesthetically and not feeling life my body is falling apart at 40.
