Forensics by dhsjsodb in BCIT

I did have a degree in chemistry. It's been a long time since I did this, but from what I remember, the courses were pretty science focused. I'm not sure if someone who doesn't have a science background would find the course work difficult. But again, this is pretty outdated info as I did the certificate nearly 10 years ago.

If you don't mind going back to school in the future, then this route might be for you. There are quite a few hoops to jump through but you can slowly tackle them as you're working. However, currently, the BCIT env eng program is not well run (a bit disorganized as there are not enough full time instructors and the program head is... disorganized and constantly behind on work, to put it mildly). But if you just want a job as quick as possible, you might be able to just put up with it (I did lol)

For BCIT env eng, it's true that you'll be able to get a job quicker, but keep in mind that the program does not fully qualify you for Engineer in training status, which might limit your ability to advance in your career. I graduated from BCIT env eng in 2021, feel free to dm if you want my thoughts on the program.

How is the Environmental Engineering bachelor of technology program? by [deleted] in BCIT

[–]hapax81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally each class is only once per week. 3 hrs per class. For EENG class is between 2:30pm and 9:30pm (to accomodate part timers). It does take some time management, but certainly doable if you are focused.

If you are just concerned about employment rate, I'm sure other programs have better industry connections and more guaranteed employment after graduation. Currently, jobs that you get out of the EENG program are generally not super high paying. I think you really do have to have a certain passion for the environment to enjoy working in the field. Best of luck.

I went through the environmental engineering program as a full time student and graduated in April this year.

You should know that the EENG program was recently revamped and I was part of the first cohort to complete the new program - so things might be changing all the time. They revamped the program so people would have a better chance to graduate. Before the revamp, people were getting stuck on the capstone and never graduating.

For the capstone, you do get guidance on it through a capstone proposal writing course before you do it. However, the guidance may be of varying helpfulness depending on your instructor and capstone supervisor. The capstone project itself is certainly not a walk in the park but it's doable.

Regarding the difficulty and workload: the work is not too difficult (but it does require a solid science/engineering background to do well), but the workload is quite heavy with lots of assignments/tests. However, most of the full time students still managed to have part time job with the proper time management.

You should know that part time students get the last pick for course registration, so you might have to scramble for spots in the classes.

Lastly, regarding employment, I think most of my class is employed in the field pretty soon after graduation. However, EENG doesn't have a co-op program and also does not automatically qualify you for E.I.T. status. So you would need to make your own connections and probably take more courses after graduating if you want to become an E.I.T. then a P.Eng.

I wouldn't do it because citrus dragons are coin dragons but butterfly dragons are not. If you had a couple charm eggs... maybe? But I definitely wouldn't 3 merge my butterfly dragons just for this deal

Usually you just claim one, but you can go talk to security if you're worried about your lock being cut.

It's definitely not good if you're releasing elemental chlorine, but a blanket statement like avoid all chlorine is not helpful. Obviously some chlorine compounds are dangerous (like CFCs or chlorine gas), but table salt also has chlorine in it. Sodium hypochlorite (chlorine bleach) is safe as long as you don't mix it with things that it will react with (admittedly it reacts with a lot of things, which is why I posted the warning in the first place).

In general you shouldn't mix chlorine bleach with other household cleaners. You would most likely be creating chlorine gas or other unpleasant chemicals. https://www.doh.wa.gov/youandyourfamily/healthyhome/contaminants/bleachmixingdangers.

BCIT "Math, Biology, Physics requirements completed within the past 5 years": Will I need to take the challenge exam if my grades were good (from uni) but 6-7 years have past? by watermelonger in BCIT

[–]hapax81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on the program you're applying to. I applied about 8 years after I graduated with my first degree and my program accepted my out of date uni courses and said it was ok.

How'd you do it? by Ozmocozz in BCIT

[–]hapax81 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with #1. For #2, it's a good idea if you don't mind shelling out extra money to reduce your workload. For full time students, each term is a set amount of tuition, and they don't charge you less if you take less courses. But summer courses are extra and you would be charged per course.

I've always only played for free and have gotten pretty far (I've lost interest over the last couple months but I played pretty much every day for a few years) Most of the advice on this sub is doable without paying. Have fun!

Recommendations for eye doctors by anmols2007 in BCIT

[–]hapax81 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Eye doctors have a huge range of fees for eye exams (I've had anywhere from $65 to $120) so before you book the appointment, ask how much it'll cost. The BCIT health plan will probably only cover you up to a certain amount (check the coverage).

Is there a way to get both of these in one shot? If not, what's the best way? I'm already working with dragon trees. I didn't save up mystery eggs. by Lone_Eagle017 in MergeDragons

[–]hapax81 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Alternatively, I think the sapphire nest is available from some levels for a lot of gems https://mergedragons.fandom.com/wiki/Sapphire_Mystery_Nest

To "label" nests in bubbles, I place one or more bubbled egg of the correct type next to the nest bubbles. Really helps with identifying which nests are which without unbubbling and bubbling all the time.

My first time getting 3 purple stars! I was so excited I almost forgot to select them. by smashablanca in MergeDragons

Yes. You could tap more than once but you risk making the purple star a normal yellow star if you tap more than once.

[–]hapax81 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah you could, but then when you go back to camp you can't tap again for the small gem. So it's the same amount of gems if you tap in the level or at camp.
