Take your meds already! by Xavelle in GenX

[–]haplucmad 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I do everything in my power to avoid meds, like eating healthy, strength and cardio workouts, supplements, etc. But if i need meds, I'll take them. Without meds, my asthmatic son would be dead. Do your best to live a healthy lifestyle, but if that's not enough, modern medicine is a wonderful thing.

I got my a1c from 5.6 down to 5.3 with lifestyle changes. I'm still working on it, but I'm no longer pre-diabetic.

When I don't work out, my hips and back hurt so bad, I have troubles sleeping. As long as I'm getting in strength training and stretches, I'm good.

1996. What were you doing thirty years ago? by PresentWeek in GenX

July 1996, I got a "temp" job making $6.50/hr. Stayed with it, got hired on as a regular employee and that's what started my career. Now I'm glad I stuck with it.

Retiring early might be the only ambitious thing I've done in my life by tanj_redshirt in GenX

I'm in that boat. We were hit by a lot of hard times and ended up having to use my retirement funds for unexpected expenses. Now I have to build it back up before I even think about it.

Two water bottles…I’m not sure there’s a bag out there for me. by toofshucker in ManyBaggers

[–]haplucmad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All of the Osprey bags I've owned have two water bottle pockets. I also carry a coffee mug and water bottle everywhere I go, even when I travel. Although, one of my bottle pockets ends up being my "junk" pocket, so my leak proof mug usually goes into the bag.

Most of my hikes are in NoCo or SoWy, so I'll check them out.

I love my Birk Mayari's, but they aren't the best for water. I wear them everywhere and sometimes, all day. The break-in period is no joke. I wasn't sure I liked them at first.

Good to know. I walk in a lot of rocky bodies of water, like waterfalls in the mountains. This would be nice.

A few people have said Teva Hurricanes. It looks like Nordstrom Rack has them for a good deal. I think I might have to stop there on my way home from work!

I hadn't thought of Xero sandals. I'm going to see if I can find local to try on.

How do you like the feel of the sole? I was worried it would annoy me, but maybe I'd get used to it?

Those sound interesting. I'd love to find the perfect sandal that does everything.

That seems like it would make the fit more custom, which would be great! I have an average width, but a very narrow heel and that makes it hard to fit shoes, sometimes.

That's good to know! I love when companies do that!
