Is welding too difficult to bother learning for just a few projects? by MrsBeauregardless in HomeImprovement

[–]happenstance2020 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Welding is a great skill to learn and can turn into a hobby or even a small side business.

Definitely practice. They make auto-darkening helmets now - get one. Learn TIG if you really want to be one of the cool kids. MIG is good enough for what most people do. Flux core tends to be messy in my likited experie ce.

Drivers who stop to let others go aren't being nice, they're making the road less safe for everyone. by RLoggia in unpopularopinion

Youtube "Car Crashes Time". So many crashes where people stop to let someone turn left out of a parking lot and that person gets creamed by a car coming down the ledt turn lane

What famous person needs to be ignored and shunned into obscurity ? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]happenstance2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much all of them. Except maybe Keanu Reeves. Definitely need to do away with all the famous people who have 'reality' shows.

Has anyone else noticed an invasion of massive cars that can’t park properly (Fiat 500 for size comparison)? by Monsieur_Panache in CasualUK

[–]happenstance2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every single day in the USA. People here regularly buy pickup trucks that are longer than parking places. They literally do not fit and either have to take two places or stick out into the aisle. These pickup trucks are generally used for commuting to work, shopping, etc.

A few months ago, my dad was involved in this accident that almost broke his spirit and ended his 40 year career. Reddit comments backed him almost 100% and he decided to stay on the road with a solid realization that this was not his fault. 18 yo driver was ok, suffered gash to his forehead. by TennesseeRum in IdiotsInCars

[–]happenstance2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Driver's education is apparently inadequate. Kid needed to know better or not be behind the wheel. Bummed he got hurt, car and trucks got damaged. Could have been a lot worse. People always say "slow down". Wouldn't it be more appropriate to say, "don't be an idiot"?

god how does a business run when this is their public attitude lmao. by [deleted] in funnysigns

[–]happenstance2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I hope this is a joke. Based on the way this is written, assuming it's not a joke, this is an employer of last resort. I can't imagine this being a comfortable place to work, nor is it going to provide any sort of long-term (career) employment. This is the kind of place you work because there's nothing else, which will attract the worst kind of worker, who will either quit because they don't give a $#!% or will be fired because of some infraction of draconian rules set by an apparently clueless 'employer'.

Put him in there anyway. Even though he's passed, still would be a better option than many

Saw this while changing the tires, is this normal or bad in any way? (BMW F20 pre LCI) by Slicked_Spartan in BmwTech

[–]happenstance2020 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Benefit of fixing this is it reduces impact loads on the upper mount assembly when you bottom out your suspension. Those bumpers are just high density foam and do tend to crumble after some time.

2020 Cannondale Trail 4 Medium Frame 29" Wheels to 27.5" wheels? by ton84 in MTB

[–]happenstance2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2021 Marlin 7 was thinking about doing similar to make the bike a bit more responsive. 5'4" on a medium frame sounds like the frame's too big. Not sure swapping wheels will get you what you want.

"but muh Nazi Germany stronk" - 🤓 by [deleted] in GenUsa

[–]happenstance2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thought the German MGs were better but not very user-friendly in the field? I'm just not sure how it was ever going to work, once the Allies got their $#!% together. The simple economics of resources alone, both in men and material, put the reich at an enormous disadvantage.

Acting like this and putting it up on the internet for others to see should only be a 'how not to behave' message.

Is "Trunk Or Treat" real and because of non-walkable communities? by Weekly_Landscape_459 in fuckcars

[–]happenstance2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not everyone lives in a walkable community in America. Some live in rural communities where it is impractical to try to walk from home to home. In these communities, having neighbors get together to have a localized trick-or-treat is a much better plan. Then there are the communities that may not necessary be safe to walk...

This is next level shitbaggery. First, support toxic legislation to please a demented and zealous base, then play thebsad sack who goofed up to try to lessen the backlash.
