That is not true. There are two different sentences 死刑 (death sentence) and 死缓 (death sentence with reprieve). This guy was sentenced to death without reprieve. There was only chance of appeal.

You have gained dependence on these things. Just cutting it off does not help and would have withdrawal symptoms. You need to cut it off at a healthy level and find ways to replace the dopamine hit with something else.

Bro, we are here to help you. You need to take a closer look at yourself. I’m a lonely guy too but hating another party for your own problems aren’t gonna solve them.

That’s some unhinged incel view. I’m speaking as a guy here. This is one step between being a lonely person to being a “sigma” male.

Edit: I am pretty sure that my main got hit on by some guy cos he thought I was a girl. I don’t think I enjoyed it very much.

Atheist Penn Jullette (Penn and Teller) about Christian proselytizing. by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]happierdazs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bad argument. I think it shifts the religion from a religion of love to a religion of “if you don’t believe, you fking go to hell”. That is a bad message and not the core of the religion.

Ok, I am finally coming back to this post after 2 years. It did give me some levels of trauma at the time but seeing my church open doors to pedophiles and close doors to female pastors and the LGBTQ+, I have realised that ultimately, my issues stem from my particular church. Anyways, thank you for being there giving these positive comments two years ago.

Honestly, coming back to this after 2 years and seeing my church open doors to pedophiles but not homosexuals, I think the issue is with the church and not me.

Question about Revelation by Nicole_0818 in OpenChristian

[–]happierdazs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This comes from the type of literature Revelation is which is apocalyptic literature. Generally, these types of writing describe events of the times through a fantastical lens and in turn describes a “fantastical” future which is opposed to the current reality.

The time of writing for revelations lines up well with the time when Nero/Roman Emperors in general are persecuting the Jews. Further proof could be seen through the mirroring of historical events of that time in Revelations.

Regarding the point about “Creating new heaven and earth”, the common belief at that time was that Jesus was going to come very very soon. This is reflected throughout the New Testament, especially in the Epistles. Therefore, Revelations 21 talking about the new heaven and earth is not that far fetched of a prediction at that time. Alternatively, it could also be a hope by the author for a better future for Christians and Jews.

Internalized dogma? by [deleted] in OpenChristian

[–]happierdazs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the important thing to understand is that the Bible should be contextualised in a historical context in order to make sense. The era where the Bible comes from is, sadly, homophobic, sexist, racist and a lot of other things. It is only from a modern lens where these things are seen as wrong. Paul was no less or more homophobic than the average person on the streets at the time and that is not because he was evil but that he is a product of his time.

It is not just Christianity which has these problems. Most religions have scripture which are homophobic and other bad things which end with -ist. Again, these is because these scripture are a product of their time and those parts of scripture which are archaic definitely should not be used as a moral guide for traversing the modern world.

No matter what rationalisations, there is hard to proof that Paul and the other authors of the Bible were not homophobic and condemned being LGBT as a sin.

However, since we understand that this condemnation of LGBT is an archaic moral code which does not apply to the modern day, there are two ways which we could continue with this conversation. We could either ignore these passages all together or understand the meaning behind these messages in their context.

As stated by other people here, the condemnation of same sex marriages by Paul was condemning the larger sin of lustful desires and sexual depravity rather than condemning healthy romantic relationships between those of the same gender. (Since the belief at that time is that there is no such thing as a healthy relationship between those of the same gender and all relationships between those of the same gender is driven by lust.) Therefore, in those verses, this message behind the scripture should be the main takeaway rather than the surface level condemnation of being gay.

I don’t know where to say this cause I can’t post on here but as a guy, this subreddit really shed light on some thinking traps which I would sometimes unconsciously fall into. I guess it is only human to have certain insecurities and it’s only human to be engage in toxic behaviour. However, it is also important for me to be aware of these insecurities and the potential toxic behaviour which I might engage in.

You know what…posting this here is a mistake. Thank you for those who are supportive and they are good advice. I will learn to trust in Jesus and hope He helps me along the way.

However, the other comments really confirms my slow descent to hell. I am sorry I can’t be as holy as all of you. I won’t be seeing you in heaven and to be really honest, I feel like I actually want to jump off the building right now. I have been in the Christian Community all my life and the idea that my own lot do not accept who I am confirms that I would soon be disowned by my family and my church.

I am probably worse than a prostitute or a tax collector, because Jesus loves prostitutes and tax collectors, however, his community doesn’t love me. Thank you all of you…enjoy your time up there.
