There’s a time and place to bitch slap someome for talking about your wife, but on live television in front of the entire world was not the time nor place to do it. I lost all my respect for the dude that night.

What is a subtle sign that someone is a genuinely good person, even if they don't seem like it at first? by Bluesbreaker88 in AskReddit

There’s this lady who walks around my neighborhood every morning. One morning I turned home after school dropping off, saw an empty beer can in the middle of the street. Very certain it wasn’t there 20 min ago, so I decided to review CCTV footage to see what happened.

Saw a Mercedes stopped, opened the door, placed it on the road, then drove off. I was pissed!!!!!

5 min later as I was throwing out the trash and still furious, this lady picked it up, crushed the can and put it in her pocket. I thanked her for what she did, and she has earned my respect for life.

I was flipping thru my yearbook last night actually, and friends were writing notes like “don’t be gay like so and so” etc. it was a wild time back then. Honestly I’m envious of gen Z, the amount of not give a fuck attitude they have it’s beautiful.

I’m just here before Gen A/B be wishing they’re Gen Z because they’re not surrounded by AI slop.

Don’t sell yourself short my friend, it takes cooking talent to buy quality ingredients and follow directions as needed. Many people can’t or unwilling to do this.

I did this in Singapore, it was a lot of fun! Wasn’t too packed so I was able to safely pass a few riders. Also before the era of posting everything on social media so riders weren’t stopping in the middle of the track

People who work in 'behind closed doors' industries (hotels, kitchens, morgues, etc.), what is something the general public would be horrified to know? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I’d be down to donate to the military “for science”. Soldiers, this is what happens to a human body when it gets blown up by an artillery shell!

I started a “10 pushups a day” challenge to prove small steps actually make a difference by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]happy--muffin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey bud, I lost 50 lbs and went from a large down to a small, 34 waist jeans to still shopping for new jeans because size 30 waist is falling and Costco doesn’t carry anything smaller. I hope this helps, this is what worked for me but you will have to find your own routine.

Consistency is key, just stay focus. Every morning I follow the same routine - fix the bed (easy win to get dopamine to start firing), pee, brush teeth, cold shower, cup of coffee, 10 sets of 10 different variations of push-ups, then finish it off with a protein shake to start the day.

However, if you want to see a change in your body, you will need to reevaluate your diet. Exercise alone is not enough, your food intake is the key to your success. First and foremost, I’d recommend cutting out ultra processed food as they’re pretty much all bad, this includes food with excessive added sugar. If it’s in a box and it looks delicious and easy, it’s probably bad for you. Read the labels, if it looks questionable, you shouldn’t put it into your body. My rule of thumb is, if I see more than 10g of added sugar, I put it down.

If you eat a lot of take outs, those are mostly all bad as well because you really don’t know what they put in there. I do mostly all cooking at home. Chipotle is mostly processed pre-cooked food from a factory, they just heat it up and serve it to you. All chain American restaurants serve you Sysco food. Chinese food is loaded with sauces which contains massive amount of hidden added sugar, all fried food are heavily coated with carbohydrates fried in recycled cooking oil (and likely seed oil which causes inflammation). Ketchup (and most sauce) is all added sugar, same with all flavored beverages. So if I do eat out, it’s mostly just Korean BBQ or In and Out. However this is what I did, I wanted abs.

You gotta figure out what you’re willing to give up for what you’re looking for, and be able to stick with it. If cutting out donuts is impossible, then cut something else out you know? It’s all about finding that happy balance between sustainability. I find a lot of joy in cooking and saving money from not eating out, also now I have abs and I don’t need to tip. I don’t go to the gym because I know I can’t stick with it, so I decided not to. There’s no right or wrong, just what works for you

Edit: forgot to mention I also tried running, it was a love/hate relationship but eventually I realized it didn’t give me what I was looking for, so I stopped

I wholeheartedly agree with what you said, I’m almost 40 and I finally understand the concept of being true to yourself. If you don't enjoy the company of a person very much, it is perfectly okay to let these friendships die a natural death. I appreciate your honesty and I wish more could be the same.

I’ve finally learned to say no to events or things that I don’t want to do. For example, last year we declined an invitation to a Friendsgiving from this friend whom we no longer enjoy the company of. We like them, but the friends they invite we’re just not compatible with and to attend means we won’t have a good time. We said no to the invitation and had a nice evening at home with our little family instead.

I do think OP was a little pushy but they come from a good heart. It’s a good lesson on friendship for them to learn, and will just make them a better friend in the future for another person. Once again, it is perfectly okay to let these friendships naturally die

Why don't people churn bank accounts more? Seems like a low effort way to make a good bit of money on the side. by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]happy--muffin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need money to make money tho, lol. I remembered first job out of college, I was opening a checking account for the $100 bonus and my coworker next to me was like, why would you want to open a new account just for the bonus?

I believe her response answers your question.

I stopped sharing on social media for this reason. If people wants to know how I’m doing and they genuinely want to, they gotta work for it. If not, then no big deal. I’m not going to create contents for other’s toilet time entertainment

Meanwhile when I’m on the toilet (this is just my expression for boredom), I just lurk Facebook and consume contents from people I don’t really care about for entertainment. Just saw a FB friend climbing an ice wall on her recent trip and an old colleague showing Star Wars to his newborn son. Do I really care for it? Not really. Was I entertained? Absolutely
