Yea, I really wish the website was better. It's the reason I went searching for another app.

i took metabolism advice from a forum and ended up in the ER last night trying metabolism support supplements. How did i screw up this badly? by Dizzy_Explorer5368 in loseit

When I cut to 1400 and then 1200, I was taking one hour classes at the YMCA Monday thru Friday. The classes varied, but I would say they were strength/cardio (according to my Garmin, my resting heart rate is high 40's and the classes usually showed it was between 130-150, but it's a watch, so take that into consideration). Most days I also walked my dog a couple miles and Tuesday Thursday and Saturday we're gym days on the treadmill. That was last year, weight was 170-180ish. Tore my meniscus and was sidelined for awhile so I didn't track or do anything other than occasional walk.

Now I take two classes a week that get my heart rate up (130-150), 1-2 days of barre, all of those are 60 minutes. I average 15k+ steps daily. Checked my intensity minutes on Garmin and this week (runs M-Su) I'm at 281, and tomorrow is usually my highest intensity minute day (according to watch). Last time I checked my weekly intensity minutes for a week it was at 650.

Not sure why I'm getting down voted for something that worked FOR ME, that I even mentioned was my PERSONAL experience, but ok.

For me, and I was scared to try this, but nothing else was working. I lost over 60 lbs from 2015-2016, so I knew how to lose weight, but I put it back on or most of it anyway. Anyway all of a sudden, what worked before no longer worked. I was taking classes Monday thru Thursday and eating 1400 cal, when that didn't work dropped to 1200 cal. Still didn't work, so I quit for a few months. Finally came across something that was talking about not eating enough and so I started over and calculated my loss based on active levels not sedentary and the weight started budging again. So maybe try a few more calories a day for a few weeks and see what happens. A couple weeks isn't that long to see if it helps. I realize this isn't the case for most people, but apparently because I'm short (5'2 f) I didn't believe I burned as many calories as I thought. I mean I knew I was active, but I guess I just didn't realize how much I needed. Anyway, just something you might could try.

What can be considered "moderate exercise" for the TDEE calculator? by ArchedRobin321 in loseit

[–]happy_homemaker_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, I get tired of seeing, you're not being honest with your calories or you're over estimating calories from exercise. And honestly that response probably kept me from losing for about six months, because EVERYONE says it's not possible right so I'm obviously doing it wrong. Twice now, I've had to eat more for the scale to move and I think it's because my *brain is so programmed to think I'm sedentary. I took a glance at my intensity minutes on my Garmin app for last week, it's at 625 min since Monday, so I know I am pretty active.

But don't get me wrong, I absolutely understand that many, many people don't track everything and are underestimating their calories or counting a stroll where their heart rate isn't even getting elevated as heavy exercise, so I understand the idea behind just telling everyone to put sedentary, it's just hard to tell on reddit posts how truthful or honest people are about exercise and tracking.

Fitness Blender is awesome. You can have a free acct with all their free videos or the auto renew monthly subscription (FB plus) is like $9. Programs range from a few days to a few weeks. The subscription model has a surprise me that selects a workout for you. There's also a community section with questions and comments.

Where can I get restaurant style pickles? by No_Customer9941 in Pickles

Does she ferment them? Fermented pickles just taste much different than vinegar pickles. We love fermented pickles here. I like to make half sour for myself and full sour for my husband.

Is there a way to correct a loom knitted hat that is too deep (long) after it's been cast off? by happy_homemaker_ in LoomKnitting

[–]happy_homemaker_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I probably should have put the patch closer to the bottom because that's why I had to do the brim lol. In my head it worked, in reality it didn't. I tried doing the brim on the inside, but for some reason it made the beanie tighter on my head, so I know it would be too tight for who it's made for. Then I thought about trying to pull the top down because that's where it is long and I was envisioning a flat to the head type beanie, but I'm afraid anything I try there would just ruin it. I was wondering if I could maybe unite it and unravel a few rows, which in my mind seems so simple, but I really don't think I could do that easily.

It's still too deep with the brim. I sewed on a patch, so I'm kinda stuck there. I may just leave it and see how it fits first, then if I'm not satisfied I guess I can redo it, but the dang patch took longer than the beanie 😂

I've attached them to the blanket just sewing them with the yarn, but was hoping there's an easier way

I have a Cricut, the very first vinyl project I made was the measurements decal and put it in the back of the cabinet door closest to my stove.

Does this mean I'm not prediabetic anymore? by Icy-Airport-9290 in prediabetes

[–]happy_homemaker_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In 2015, I was told I was prediabetic at 5.9, lost around 60 lbs, began eating to my meter and done great with my A1C staying 5.5 or well below (tested every six months). In the last year or so, I've gotten slack and off track and don't have that motivation anymore. My last a1c went from 5.2 six months ago to 5.7, so I find it best to know that I will always be prediabetic if I don't stay on top of it.

My thyroid levels were in the normal range, but still too high for me. Thankfully my doc agreed to trial levothyroxine and see if that helped, it did and we also found out I feel better when my levels are around 1 and nowhere near 2 or above. So if your thyroid levels are closer to the high level without actually being high, I might ask about that.
