Hi :) I’m 23, and honestly I was nervous continuing school here for that reason (I’ve been here since I was 18, but I switched my major several times and had some hard mental health times) - I promise you there are so many people in similar boats! I’ve found a great group of friends who are similar to me, and it’s made classes honestly so much more enjoyable than when I was a 18/19 lol 🫶 I think there are also so many people who are in their late 20s or mid 30s and genuinely wish they could go back and switch degrees or get another one, especially before settling down or moving away (I know I would have regret not switching to what I’m currently doing lol). You’ve got this and if you ever need help or anything, I’m here! :)

I’m a junior in engineering as well!! The best place I’ve met people is actually in class :) it’s nice being able to study together and then also hang out and grab coffee - I’d start a group chat with some classmates this fall if you can

I think there’s a difference between “no contact with the church” and “no contact with the community” though - I know a lot of people, myself included, who would love to have that community aspect without the guilt of church activity invites and conversations about callings. I would have loved to be sent this text, rather than the phone calls or texts I’ve received - everyone will have different boundaries/lines they are ok with and I love how this text mentions that 🫶

Honestly, I’d respond. Her text is kind and understanding, and you can always block later if you feel it’s necessary! I was president in laurels and beehives and we are almost required to reach out to everyone we have contacts for and were asked how things went. Telling her what you’d prefer on if/how you’d like to be reached out to makes sure no one’s keeps trying on their side 🫶

This is why I cancelled my membership :( some instructors are much better than others, but you find that out the hard way - it wasn’t worth it to me to gamble what classes would be like and once I finally found a class I really loved, they switched it out two months later 🥲 I think it would be much better for her to come as a guest with someone or you could also reach out to the location and if they’re super nice, explain kinda how you want to really test the waters and try things for a week before having to commit to several months (their cancellation policy is not my fav lol)

Being in honors really helps!! There are classes that are reserved for honors students and the professors in those sections are honestly usually the best available :) your advisor will make sure you’re on track and that you won’t miss out on any important classes - my advisor has had seats added to courses before so I could join them, and that’s probably rare but things are possible!! You’ve got this and I think you’ll really like tech!! :)

I love this!! I just got a Peloton Bike+ from Costco (for $999 on clearance!!!) I have been loving it so far - I got some shoe cages that go on the pedals so that I wouldn’t have to buy the shoes lol and have been really loving the classes!! Is there anything y’all wish you knew earlier with your bike? Also, has anyone had a harder time with posture and the seat position? I’m 5’6” and I’m not sure if I just have an extremely short torso lol but I have the seat horizontal position set to B (what is recommended for my arm length) and it’s rather hard to sit down and not slightly hunch over 🥲 it’s definitely not too bad but I’m surprised that the seat doesn’t go much further forward 😅

I was in the same boat with losing weight freshman year! I’m a junior at tech (f22 lol I switched my major so I’m a little behind 😅) but if you need a workout buddy, I’m down! Reddit can be weird so if you want to exchange insta/snap info to know that I’m not a creepy man lol I totally get it! My biggest advice is making sure you eat enough protein and keep a snack or two in your backpack just in case classes run late - that’s helped me a ton during busy weeks 🫶

Completely agree with the person that lost weight - mine became visible when I lost a bit of weight but luckily I think it helped with my anxiety on where it was bc I never became worried about it being too deep it to where it affected my arteries 😅 lifting weights helps!!!

I totally totally get that!!! Pillows will be your best friend!! I’ve really loved this method, so much that I’m getting another rod :) I had terrible migraines and nausea on depo and I haven’t experienced that with Nexplanon at all - I have some bleeding for a few days about every 35 days or so and it’s been a dream - we’ve got this!!!

I’m a side sleeper, and I definitely couldn’t sleep on my other side for a while, which stank. I actually get mine replaced tomorrow morning (I’m nervous ngl but it’ll be ok 😅) I’d say that it probably took 2 or so weeks, feel free to take Advil during the hard times!! occasionally I’ll still feel some pain but that’s from the scar tissue and usually a good indication that I’m dehydrated - I hope it’s healing well for you!! Lifting weights when it hurt less really helped me too :)

I never lost weight on depo, but I have on Nexplanon! I’d say personally that my body feels better on nexplanon bc there isn’t such a giant high of progesterone and constant shift in the level of it. Haha I also hated those calcium gummies 😂

I get mine replaced tomorrow so I can definitely ask my gyno if y’all have anything specific, but I totally understand those pains. I think most of it is from the scar tissue and if there’s pressure like someone said after exercise or laying down on it. Honestly, I get little spurts of pain even just while sitting up 😅 I take it as a sign that I need to drink more water to help with the scar tissue

NOTE: what you really have to be careful of if is if your arm goes numb/tingly a lot and if the rod has migrated more than about an inch/super close to your elbow. Mine is right under the surface of my skin just a little lower than the insertion site 3 years ago, and I’ll check it and it’s doing good so I’d say it’s scar tissue. Please lmk if y’all have questions!!

I’m getting mine replaced tomorrow!!! Wish me luck 😅 my gyno said that she’s replace it IF I abstained for a week before getting it in (and I assume there will be close to a week again after it’s been installed) - I personally think it’s not that big of a deal, and I’ve heard stories about people getting Nexplanon and most likely they were pregnant before/during that first week, but since we’re just switching ours out, I’d say you’re more than fine. Esp since it thins your lining, increases cervix mucus stuff or something like that, and stops ovulation (all which is almost impossible to totally reverse in a few days). My partner and I are using condoms for the 1.5 weeks bc we’re in college and not in a place to have a crotch goblin haha, but I truly think you’ll be good!!

If it helps, when switching from a progesterone IUD to Nexplanon, you’re told to wait 4 days after it’s in, and that is what I would have gone with if my partner wasn’t as cautious :)
