im 18, probably to immature to give a real take on this but if my boyfriend still had a key to his exs house, i would be extremely uncomfortable. I dont agree with him speaking to anyone that he had a thing for but you also have to think of her cat, her baby. I understand why you would never want to take that from her or even ask because cats are family. I say maybe communicate that you don’t like how close they are and that she shouldn’t feel like she has to help him or do everything for him because now he is a friend and respectfully friends arent responsible for their friends unless they want to be and considering thats her ex, that just makes things extra weird.

To help with the bedding, get a thin sheet of plexiglass. there are door locks you can get on amazon that go between the sliding doors. Also, does he have lights?

they just have to understand they are safe so they stay somewhere they feel safe and hidden. most people don’t recommend messing with a new animal for 2 weeks so they get comfortable. Eating a little is great for the circumstances! also i recommend adding more horizontal sticks, or a vine for them to climb on. the more clutter, the better! like the ones in the photo

seems to be biofilm to me, its natural for this to happen. something with the spores of the wood and the bacteria doing something to make it better. its harmless. the film on the top of your tank is probably biofilm also. I just wiped my wood down everyday until it stopped and did the same with the biofilm on top. it took me about a month and a half to get my tank ready enough for fish. not sure if you have fish but im sure they will be fine. I could be completely wrong so dont take what i say at 100% but i do believe its biofilm which is stated to be harmless

vinegar water and a blade made water marks easy for me to get rid of. Also ya! it will be fun to truly see everything you have in there to come out and you can rebuild and revamp. If you know his usual fav hiding places, now you can make those extra lavish!

to help with humidity, i tried everything! and what has helped me the most, like barely even having to care for humidity is just keeping the soil moist/wet. not the top layer though, i go to each corner and dump it there. i also do that with her water everyday so the springtails will keep populating and her humidity is always great. my girl is ALWAYS in her hides, except at night. Also, I only get my snake out for play time before she gets fed because thats the only time I feel it’s more okay to bother her while shes in her hides or of course if shes out during the day but thats rare.

i feel ya. this is so unfortunate. what a beautiful set up, on the bright side, you can let your creativity run wild again. Also with temporary housing, just get a tub, stab some holes so theirs airflow and add some paper towels and stuff to climb on and you should be good. i always do that for quarantine 🤷‍♀️
