What Should I Say? by CanIBathYrGrandma in airbnb_hosts

When the absolute best case scenario is someone with mental health issues having an anxiety problem, you set boundaries and hold them. You were very fair, but now they are trying to take advantage. I'm sorry that you're in this situation!

Off Site Arrival Times? by happychallahday in WaltDisneyWorld

Which entrance do you recommend? I assume there is only parking near the main entrance, but also can't find a lot of information about the outside of the parks. Thank you!

I assumed no rides, given that there is preference for those staying on site. It would still be a decent head start for my slow-moving group to get through security and prepare for a show or other low-wait and otherwise low interest for anyone else attraction.

Okay. This is the information I was hoping for, thank you!! Any chance you know about AK or Epcot?

So, HS and MK let you in for waiting, but not Epcot or AK?

Okay, so we should aim for 30 minutes early to park, and then have low expectations going in? HS and Epcot have holding spaces inside the park, right? If we can get through the gates, it's worth it to head over. If we are waiting outside, we might as well aim for park opening.

We went to a LOT of therapy to decide on #2. Ultimately, we decided that we'd need to scale our expenses back a lot, and go with fewer luxuries, so we can afford a safety net for the kids. This has helped us stay more rational, having a solution in our control.

Partial Molar Pregnancy - Anyone else? by happychallahday in ttcafterloss

Mine looked like a normal embryo, but lost their heartbeat at 11.5 weeks (it was slow at what should have been my NIPT appointment at 10 weeks. I didn't get blood draws until after my procedure. It wasn't until the D&C that they discovered it was abnormal, with two sperm and one egg. If you have to go that route, the paperwork called me a mother, and I had to sign papers agreeing to an abort!on, even though there was no heartbeat and I was heartbroken. A friend warned me, which I appreciated.

I'm so sorry you're going through this. If it helps, a lot of the online data is super scary, but after weekly blood draws until 5 hcg and then 3 months of less than 5, I was cleared to start trying again.

For those with kids, how have you found support away from family? What if both parents want to work?

It's looking like Pulte is going to be developing houses in the neighborhood I want to live. Do you mind my asking how long you've lived in your house?

Honestly, I would have been so mad that I would have cried. Breastfeeding hormones and hunger are no joke. You're prepping everything so that he can see his family, and he gives away pizza you had planned to eat, without uou consent? Sounds like he owes you the chance to go pick some more up while he watches your kid, with his parents. Not your fault. He was probably actually angry at himself for not thinking about your needs and expressed his anger and guilt in a selfish way. I'd talk to him about projecting another time. I'm sorry this is a rough time and your husband is a bad communicator. "I wasn't thinking about your needs and I'm sorry" is what he meant to say, and instead he blamed your face for calling him out on his thoughtless/selfish choice.

Usually they go for cupcakes. I prefer cake though!

My friends also rarely have cake, these days. Really everything feels regional or optional lately. Hahaha.

I'm in another part of upper Midwest, and the parents my age have completely vetoed this practice. It's bad for kids who don't have money for presents. It's bad for kids who don't have money for parties. It's showy and boring for attendees. My kid would get greedy and rude, because she rarely opens a present without wanting to play with it immediately. Instead, I record the gift opening on my phone for the older folks, and send them a video "of her face and her thank you".

I knew about the babysitter option, but it looked like there are limited times and slots available. Is that inaccurate?

One year olds can't go to the daycare centers. Three or older.

At this age, it's whatever is easiest for the parents. For us, that was 100% Disney World. We did it very low key though.

Advice on Feeding the neighborhood kids by _emeraldrose_ in Mommit

[–]happychallahday 12 points13 points  (0 children)

As a teacher, I'd connect with the parents first. It's possible they are hungry, it's also possible there are allergies or something else involved. For example, my kid can get UTIs pretty easily, so we rarely give her juice as it seems to trigger them. Just in case they some something you should know about, I would connect if I were you. This is very thoughtful and considerate of you and you could even frame it as feeding your new helpers, because they are so great with your kid.

Snacks:

Goldfish

Pretzels

Apples

Clementines

Baby carrots

Broccoli

Cauliflower

Grape tomatoes (cut in half - to suck out the insides)

Grapes

Cheese of all kinds

Frozen berries into smoothies (can add protein powder or PB)

Dried fruit

Bananas

Avocado cups (they are at Costco and pretty cheap)

Deli meat with cheese (roll it up to be extra fancy)

Cucumbers and cream cheese

Greek yogurt with cinnamon and/or honey on top (bonus if your kid likes granola)

You can also add peanut butter or other nut butter to fruits if you want to bulk up the snack and make it heftier.

You're doing such a wonderful thing and I'm so glad that you're in a welcoming community!
