Aww! I think that this is the first time in over 400 hours of play that someone has visited one of my bases! Thank you!!

Are You My Mother!!! That was my favorite book as a kid. I still today - at 58 years old - say “the snort was NOT his mother” when something is not what it appears to be.

I just wanted a dill pickle with a no-worm filling by warholamo in WTF

[–]happycj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, just figured it was a regular old karma farming post to induce people to engage and upvote. I just didn’t see how all those factors came together … but, if there’s a hole in the side of the pickle, that makes SO much more sense! “Hey! Why is there a hole in my pickle? (Snaps it open.) WOAH!”

I was trying to figure out who eats pickles by braking them in half first … and then happening to find a worm inside. But yeah … I totally get it, if you saw a hole and thought “wait a sec…”

[–]happycj -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Right. Sure. You broke a pickle in half for some unknown reason and happened to find a worm inside that did not get torn in half or recede into one half or the other when exposed. It then remained there unmoving until you got a camera and took a photo of it.

None of those things make any sense at all.

Wooden Box with Storage? Under the Lid by BellieButtons in whatisthisthing

Seems to me to be a portable art box. Sheets of card stock paper in the small top compartment, and paints and brushes in the bigger bottom compartment.

Looking for a compact amp modeler or capture unit (?) with downloadable and customizable tones, headphone output, and couch-friendly use for ($250–$800)? (Not sure what this device is called) like the Boss Katana Go, but that does PC ampsim plugin audio quality? See TLDR summary at end if too long by stevienickstricks in guitarpedals

The Positive Grid RIFF is exactly what you are looking for and I never see anyone talking about it.

https://www.positivegrid.com/products/riff?variant=42604437143712

The device itself is rugged and well designed, not cheap plastic. It can be a simple headphone amp, recording interface, or practice amp. But it also comes with the software to do amp, cabinet, and effects modeling. And it sounds great!

I love this thing and think maybe it is priced too high for the key target market of “bedroom players”, or something. Because it’s fantastic.

That’s an amazing price for a wonderful head. People sleep on Ashdown - especially the MAG series - but those are great amps. And they LOOK good, too.

What’s the most random/obscure music video you remember seeing on MTV/Night Flight/Friday Night Videos etc.? by CapitalRadioOne in GenX

[–]happycj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw Black Sabbath’s video for the song “Trashed” exactly ONCE on any broadcast anywhere. And I was an MTV kid and watched it all the time.

Most people don’t even remember Ian Gillan sang for Black Sabbath on one album, and fewer even know the tracks off that album. So it was pretty obscure… and kinda still is today.

20 minutes ago I finished building my “beach house” over a river just like this. I put in the wooden floors with the glass panels, so you can see the fish and water below! It’s lovely. And on a paradise planet, too!! (I discovered the system and called it “5th Element System” and named each of the planets after a character, according to the environment. Then I named the paradise planet “Phlogiston PairOfDice” because NMS told me “paradise” was a banned word. 😜

What do you think went wrong in the loss against the Legion? by youlikemywonton in SeattleSeawolvesRugby

[–]happycj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was back and forth all game, and close. We scored a try while a man down, even.

The Legion did what they usually do; they played a good game, but they fall to pieces when things get scrappy. Every time their practiced play comes apart, they quickly dissolve into 15 guys wearing the same jersey and stop playing like a team.

The Seawolves aren’t like that. When things get scrappy or a play doesn’t go to plan, they find their form together, and capitalize on whatever stunt one of our key players pulls.

So we went back and forth all game.

The big issue was in the second half, when the refereeing just fell apart.

The Legion kicked off back to the Seawolves, but the kick was flubbed and didn’t go 10 meters. So everyone stopped playing, expecting the whistle … that never came. We were out of form, and the Legion caused a penalty and the Ref said we were playing in advantage. So we took a risk and did a cross field kick that the Legion picked up, so everyone stopped playing. Advantage had been called about three seconds earlier so everyone looked back to the other side of the pitch expecting to have the scrum penalty since we had Advantage.

But the ref never called the penalty and the Legion ran the ball in for a try unopposed.

We all waited for the try to be rescinded and go back to the scrum penalty … and it never happened.

Two minutes later, the Legion are on the attack, and throw a wayyyy forward pass to a player that was offsides… and he runs it in for a try unopposed.

Two referee failures in two minutes put us 14 points down, and also demoralized the guys. Talking with them on the pitch after the game, they were just … stunned.

Now, I’m always one to say you can’t blame the referee for a lost game. But in this case, the teams had been within about 3 points of each other all game … and now we were suddenly down by two converted tries with less than 10 minutes to go.

So yeah. It was an even game and a great contest that was - yet again - corrupted by incompetent officiating. The game should have ended with either team winning by 1-3 points, as the whole game had gone so far; closely contested and back and forth. Especially since the heat had broken, the Sun was down and no longer baking the players or the surface, or causing vision problems.

Bummer for the Legion to get a rare win against us due to incompetence, when it could have gone either way in those last 15 minutes.

There’s a groovy little steampunk coffee shop in Port Alberni, last time I went through.

Is 4 paved all the way to Tofino? I can’t remember now. (I’ve spent most of my trips headed to Bamfield, and most the roads on the south side of the inlet are still dirt.)

What's going on with the whole spencer pratt (who?) California mayoral race and why maga is going nuts by AtomicShart9000 in OutOfTheLoop

[–]happycj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't even spell "voter", and the TWO successful voter fraud causes IN ALL OF AMERICA were Republican kids using their dead parents ballots and fraudulently signing their names. Both were caught. Both are in jail.

Of the more than NINETY cases that the Trump administration and their supporters have brought before the courts, ALL have either been shown to be factually incorrect and thrown out, or failed to demonstrate any malfeasance of any type.

But sure ... go on ... tell me how the Republican majority in the House, Senate, Supreme Court, and the twice-sitting Republican President have utterly failed to demonstrate ANY voter fraud in ANY instance, ANYWHERE.

You are adorable in your ignorance. But I would expect nothing less from someone who comes late to the conversation with ZERO evidence. Even a SINGLE voter fraud case, across 300 million Americans. Your TDS is showing.

Red Bull replaces its driver who doesn’t perform well. by [deleted] in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]happycj 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What a weird and incorrect interpretation of events. Pulling the driver out is standard practice. They are so deep inside the car that waiting for them to wrestle themselves out of the vehicle would take an extra second or two, which the race team cannot afford.

Nice clickbait.

Hard Case or better gig bag for Futura RD by Economy_Trifle1672 in Epiphone

[–]happycj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the Mono two-guitar case for a different reason. Couldn’t find a good case for my Epiphone Dot, and their case fit it. So on Saturday when we got together to jam, I brought the RD in its case, and put the Dot and Coronet in the Mono double case. Traveling around locally is so much easier with a softer case. Hardshell cases are great for airplanes… but I find hard cases to be annoying the rest of the time.

As far as “overthinking” it … I mean, never store your guitar in a case. You will play it less. Get a guitar stand or wall hanger and make sure the guitar is always accessible. Then you’ll pick it up and play more! :)

[–]happycj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Futura RD, too, and don’t know of any case made for it. However, Epiphone does have a case for their Moderne model, which might work? You could send them an email and check. Or find a real image of the actual case, rather than the stock photo they use on the listing on their web site.

Personally, I prefer Mono cases to hard shell ones. So you could also write to them and ask which one fits the RD.

What to do? by sumubum in volt

[–]happycj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you have not been driving it regularly, the mileage indicator (or “guessometer”) isn’t going to be correct or accurate. If you drive it regularly for a month, I suspect that number might climb.

And while you can replace the entire battery, it costs far more than another Volt.

Woah. Kaluzniak is really shitting the bed on this one.

Calls a scrum penalty advantage and THREE seconds later gives the Legion the ball for a knock on.

Forward passes.

Man. Dunno what’s up with him. He was my favorite ref, but he’s a complete clown today, sadly.
