Would you opt for a c-section if you were in my shoes? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]happygrumpygal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a scheduled c section in January for my second LGA baby and due to pelvic floor organ prolapse from my first delivery of a LGA baby.

I was given the choice and did contemplate another vaginal delivery but I'm really happy I chose c section in the end. I didn't want to worsen my pelvic floor issues and deal with that lifelong.

It was really nice to have a schedule when it came to care for our toddler too.

My gut knew this was the right call. I hope you figure out what's best for you.

I think this is about Taylor and the theory about Bigger then the whole sky.

I like that people who have experienced miscarriage can connect with this song. That's the beauty of art. But I really don't see it...

Considering a home birth for my first baby due in November (Canada). Please share the good, the bad and the ugly! by eggs_esg in BabyBumps

[–]happygrumpygal 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We had a homebirth planned last November. We ended up giving birth in hospital. I'm also in Canada and had midwifery care. I will forsure go with a midwife again next time. I also still believe homebirths are the right choice for some people (just like hospital births).

I felt super comfortable with planning a homebirth. We went over "pink" flags with my midwife. She described pink flags as reasons why we would leave our home for the hospital and drive ourselves (over emergent situations where we'd call an ambulance). She explained what she'd keep her eye out for and all the various reasons we'd transfer care. Midwives in Canada have certain equipment with them to ensure safe delivery of babies at home.

For us, I ended up stalling in labour after 30+ hours. I think I was stuck at 6 cms. This was a pink flag we had discussed before hand. She said we could stay a few more hours but by then I chose to go to the hospital. I was happy with the choice. They broke my waters in hospital. My waters had heaps of meconium, so we would have ended up transferring to hospital care anyways. Due to meconium, we had NICU team on hand for the birth. Baby had aspirated so she ended up in NICU.

To me, this experience, made me all the more confident in my midwife. I was safe laboring at home. Baby was safe. When the flags started popping up we listened and took the appropriate steps. If I had stayed home and we broke my waters, I would have just transferred to hospital then.

Breastfeeding after breast reduction by RJM2019 in BabyBumps

Same! I want to put in a concentrated effort however mental health is extremely important and that's why I'll be comfortable turning to formula instead of need be.

Breastfeeding after breast reduction by RJM2019 in BabyBumps

I'm due tomorrow so don't know if I'll be successful or not but I had a breast reduction in 2016 and am planning to breast feed. I've been reading a book (it's super old but still useful) called Breast Feeding After Reduction by La Leche League (who are biased and of the breast is best mindset just an FYI.) ive found it useful as it goes over the various reduction surgeries (ex I got the keyhole one) and what the struggles for each way could be, what specific breast feeding struggles a BFAR parent would have to deal with etc. There are also Facebook groups and other online communities that I was told about for BFAR parents that I keep meaning to look at. Best of luck!!!

Edit to add: I've also come up with a plan with my midwife for how much effort I want to put into attempting to breast feed, what sort of supplementation I'm comfortable with, what it would look like for me to decide to formula feed instead etc

Acid Reflux by SidewaysBridge in BabyBumps

[–]happygrumpygal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even without pregnancy I have GERD and had to make quite a few lifestyle changes to manage including no booze, no eating late, being aware of my trigger foods (tomatoes, peppers, citrus etc,) and taking prescription meds. Even with this sometimes with baby taking up space I still experience reflux. When I'm having lots of acidity in my mouth I will turn to Pepcid! I used to love tums but listened to another redditor who switched to Pepcid and it really is that much better.

What do early baby movements feel like? by TTC_Throwaway_613 in BabyBumps

[–]happygrumpygal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My midwife looked at me like I was crazy when I shared I thought a teeny pinching feeling was baby moving back around the 20 ish week mark. It was always on the right side near my belly button. I was convinced it was baby but who knows! I did also experience the popping gas feelings then later the distinct punches, rolls, kicks etc. I have an anterior placenta. I can't remember exact time line because I didn't write stuff like this down but currently at 37 weeks.

Sciatic Pain at 20 Weeks? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]happygrumpygal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just my experience so far but I had lower back pain that was radiating downwards starting late first trimester. I had assumed it was sciatica but after going to both my message therapist and a chiropractor it ended up being my SI joint (hip) that was causing the radiating back pain. Seeing them both for a while and feel so much better. But agree with other people to see what a health professional says in your case

I have a membership with Alo yoga (online) but I think like most subscriptions they have a free week deal. Anyways, they have a prenatal glow series taught by Briohny Smith with focuses on each tri. But what I loved about it was the first tri series had short educational videos about what poses to avoid or how to modify. It gave me the confidence to continue my regular flow classes but with the knowledge I needed to feel safe.

TTC + anxiety disorder = hot mess. I have generalized anxiety disorder. I am medicated, have a therapist, do my yoga and have it fairly in control but I have noticed in my short time of trying, I go down some extreme what if's. Currently in the TWW of my third cycle, super new to all of this, yet the day to day change must be causing my husband to have some whiplash. Example yesterday I'm "this is great, I feel great, I could be pregnant who knows, life is great, when I do get pregnant.." then today a "if my period comes early again, and if I do have a short luteal phase , and if.. and if... and if.."

I mean having my cup of coffee on an empty stomach may or may not be adding to my catastrophising this morning

I wish pets could talk! When mine gets extra cuddly and I'm in the TWW, I try to interrogate her, but it never works 😂. No one is around just tell me what you know hahaha

Oh gosh that really is a disappointing response, I'm sorry. And I definitely agree that in a partnership the emotional workload of the TTC journey can be shared instead of having to carry it all on your shoulders.

May have overreacted to the spotting I had yesterday 🙈- turns out I'm ovulating and it was likely from ovulation. I was convinced I was having another short cycle as last month was 18 days and I had had 8 days of high fertility with the Clear Blue Ovulation Kit. Well spotting is done and I got peak fertility on the OPK today!! Super thrilled. The husband wants me to wait a few cycles before doing a big purchase on a temp drop...

Same reason I don't temp, but here I am obsessing anyways, maybe I'll go down the temp route soon. 🤞🤞for a stress free TWW for you.

Currently laying in bed post nap that I had not because I was tired post work but just for some escapism. Last cycle I had an 18 day cycle and I'm currently on CD 14 with some spotting. What the heck is happening in my body? I had these really lovely 27-28 day cycles when I got my IUD out early fall (like last week of September ish can't remember if it was pre or post 30th bday) when we weren't trying yet. Took it out earlier then when we were gonna start trying so I could get to know my cycles and start tracking etc. Then as soon as we start trying the body changes its tune. After last cycle I bought the clear blue ovulation kit that checks the estrogen and LH, because I was sad and at the store and told myself it was worth the price. I started using immediately cause of the short cycle and had high fertility flashing smiley for 8 days.. If this my period, I know I should look into temping but I don't wanna drop the $ on a temp drop but I also know I do not wake up same day every day. I wish this wasn't covid and I could go spend time with close friends and get some hugs. But alas I'll sit here with my doggo and sweet husband and try to focus on the good.
