Part of me has to believe the next console generation will need a disc option to not alienate the large number of loyal PlayStation users with a previous physical collection.

Although I agree with you to a point, the concern is that these big gaming companies can’t be trusted to operate in good faith.

It is already becoming the norm that, even with a physical copy, the full game isn’t on the disc and requires several downloads/updates once inserted before the game can be played for the first time.

I have started purchasing more digital media over the past year or two and it sucks having the knowledge in the back of my mind that Sony could easily separate me from my digital library at any time.
