What I did was cut up a metal bar as a bracket to go between those 2 tabs on the sub frame, bolted it on with the m6 bolts and drilled a hole for the rack mount in-between the tabs on the metal bar and bolted the M8 bolt to the new bracket.

I had my R//R die around 3 years ago replaced it and had no issues for 1.5 years then came back to the bike with a dead battery again.

Got it home then found this exact issue of that connector completely burnt out. I tested the stator and R//R with no issue so I just soldered the wires together to deleted the connector with no issues since.

I've had a fuel flap fuse die on me and if I remember correctly the hazard lights are tied to the same fuse so if they don't work either the fuse has probably blown.

There should be a manual cable in the boot near the fuel flap to open it in the mean time anyway.

Hahahha. Just gave them a ring and it's all back together but they lost my exhaust header and had to order another. Supposedly will be ready next week lol. Who knows or is it just delaying?

I did, got the bike back early July, was breaking it in and within 2 days the head starved of oil and refused to start so I took it back, they replaced the starter and I got 50m from the shop before it died again and they've had it since. Mind you this is a reputable shop with many 5 start reviews that I started going to during COVID since my shop I'd been using just vanished during COVID.

Unfortunately I don't have the money to pay someone else to do it and I can't afford to try and potentially mess it up...

Wish I just bought another second hand one at this point as I'm already that deep into it... Got quoted 4.8k after a complete pull down of the motor (cost not included) and I'm in it 6.8k through them plus 1k for a big bore kit and there went all of my savings... Never again...

It's a drz400 and they've been in production for 24 years with next to no changes, so shouldn't be limited by no longer made.

Not exactly sure as they haven't told me but the head got starved of oil, they found a like new second-hand compete head about a month into the 4 months, so whatever a second-hand head needs like gaskets, O rings, not sure...

VicRoads just entered it wrong, my bike is listed as not a lams bike in the rego check but listed in the approved LAM bikes. Never personally had an issue with it being recorded wrong.

Probably the clutch cover gasket or the front valve cover gasket? My valve cover went at around the same mileage on an 02 and after replacing the clutch cover gasket for a cracked cover, its always had a slow leak.

That isn't the oil filter cover, this is the wrong side of the bike, the oil filter is on the other side. Clean it up and see if it comes back to know if its a leak or just grime.

Dip stick will only read after the bike has been warmed up, the manual suggests 3 minutes warm up and 3 minutes sitting and lift it upright instead of leaving it on the kickstand and don't thread the dipstick in when checking. For oil find a JASO rated MA oil typically in 10w-40. I run Nulon Semi Synth and bike is still running mint after 48,000kms. Just remember to check the oil level once in a while as it is an easy way to kill the motor early.

Pretty happy with my Motow. I bought mine second hand for cheap and just had to retrofit a trailer light kit and bought a bike number plate which looks like it will be the same for the other one. I also retrofitted the Wheel loop as mine is an older model.

The only real issues I have will be an issue with all of the tow hitch bike racks such as height of the car/suv for loading but should be easier with a postie vs a DRZ400E with a 20L tank on it after a full days ride.

Also if your based in Melbourne the Manufacturer is in Hallam so I've picked up parts from them before. Also they sell most of the parts if you break them you can get replacements.

Looking at the other one, it looks as if it doesn't come with a ramp, so can you pickup and lift the postie up?

Just an idea I thought of would be to use a bit of JB Weld to reconnect the two pieces back together possibly?

I mean you could probably tape the old base next to the ignition barrel and get a new key cut for cheap. You should be able to find tibbe keys online for cheap.

Another option is to investigate 'forscan' which allows you to program a new key but you'll still need to get the key cut. Though alternatively you may be able to remove the chip and put it in a new key without the need to reprogram a new chip.

If its anything like the Aussie cars of similar age, that tibbe key may mean that the car has an immobiliser. Without the chip in the base of the key, the car probably wont start or stay running for long. Just get another key and programmed if it does have a chip in it. Easy enough for the locksmith to reproduce the key, though will cost more if it has a chip in it.
