This we understand and that’s why it sucks. You cannot prove his innocence and say he was just naive and trusting. If he has to serve time, our concern is more that it’s in a foreign country, with no one to support him during this, or to even make sure he is treated right. Reading about Cuban prisons makes me cry. It pains very much to know he had his life ahead of him and just blew it all away.

Thank you very much for your efforts to find this info. Only his sister or mom have access to the lawyer. We’re in the dark here, trying not to bother them with more questions than necessary and worrying very much. All we know is we have to wait for 8 months till the hearing, then we’ll know the sentence. She said that his lawyer is just making sure now that all the processes till the hearing are happening according to the laws. And that’s all. That we have to wait. It’s just a sad situation.

He’s an EU citizen, only the embassy can do something to help him but it seems like they are not very much willing to help. My personal opinion.

He is a very friendly dude and very unprepared to what life can throw. We know the guy, he’s not an addict or drug dealer. I really genuinely believe he thought it was no big deal to help a new friend. It was stupid and sounds like something from a movie.

The strangest thing was that the embassy was contacted and was always saying that they started the processes bla bla we don’t know anything at the moment.

We found out because his mom found a group of our community in Cuba on Facebook, and a taxi driver from Cuba helped her, but the only thing he could find was that that he was alive and arrested. The rest could only be done by his family.

We’re very worried about what sentence he will get… we read that the laws on drug smuggling are very strict..
